The Engineering Department at Maritime College, State University of New York is seeking to fill a mechanical engineering faculty position. The Assistant or Associate Professor position will be a tenure-track, academic year appointment. The Maritime College mechanical engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET and is focused on applied mechanics. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to teach core engineering courses and applied mechanics courses for mechanical engineering majors in a collaborative, team-based environment. Experience with first-year introductory engineering courses is also desirable. Faculty will be encouraged to conduct applied research in engineering or other areas of scholarship.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications

A Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a closely allied field (e.g., Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture) together with previous academic or industrial experience is required for the Associate Professor Rank. A reasonable expectation of timely completion of a Ph.D. is required for the Assistant Professor Rank. Practical industrial or research experience is highly desirable, particularly marine industrial experience. Holding a Professional Engineering license or a USCG license as a marine engineering officer is also highly desirable. Highly qualified individuals not holding a Ph.D. may be considered for a full-time, non-tenure track Lecturer position

Additional Information:

Classification/Salary Range: The Assistant or Associate Professor position is a tenure-track, academic year appointment United University Professions (UUP) position.The anticipated salary range for the position is $90,000.00 to $115,000.00 annually, Appointments will be for a fixed term of one or two years, with one-to three-year extensions possible by mutual consent. Compensation includes a full benefits package in accordance with the contract between the State University of New York and United University Professionals, and includes an outstanding benefits package. Special Notes: This is a Full- Time Academic Year UUP position. Fair Labor Standard Acts (FLSA) Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.
