Purpose: To assist the Bakery Manager with keeping the Bakery running smoothly and producing an adequate amount of food in a timely and efficient manner. To help keep the bakery cases fully stocked and appealing at all times. To create a hospitable environment that welcomes coworkers, customers, owners, and members of the community.

Status: Level III, Lead Staff, Supervised by Bakery Manager
Responsibilities:
PRODUCTION BAKERY
- Oversee and assist with the daily production of both bread and pastry for retail, catering, and wholesale orders.
- Ensure that Greenstar offers a wide variety of baked goods for sale, is fully stocked, attractive, and with accurate pricing, supporting the Bakery Manager
- Ensure that Greenstar offers a wide variety of on trend products, including vegan and wheat free options.
- Assist Bakery Manager in researching and developing new recipes.
- Assist with inventory and ordering products, ensuring adequate amounts of products/supplies.
- Assist with receiving and stocking orders as needed.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
- Assist customers with product questions in a prompt, and courteous manner, referring them to other staff when necessary.
- Work as part of a team to develop a hospitable department space that feels welcoming to all.
- Knowledgeable about all Bakery products.
- Help customers place special orders.
PERSONNEL
- Assist the Bakery Manager in ensuring on-the-job-training.
- Evaluate ongoing staff training needs.
- Communicate any personnel concerns to the Bakery Manager.
DEPARTMENT MAINTENANCE
- See that unsaleable items are properly disposed of. Keep accurate shrinkage records.
- Cleans and maintains work areas, utensils, and equipment and notifies supervisor of any maintenance issues.
- Participate in inventory counts.
- Ensure maintenance of department equipment and notify manager if equipment breaks.
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow GreenStar’s safety rules.
- Assist other employees in safety needs.
- Report unsafe equipment and conditions.
- Participate in safety training programs.
- Perform other tasks as assigned to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
STOREWIDE AND OTHER DUTIES
- Attend Human Resources trainings, all-staff meetings, department meetings, and OBM Huddles to stay informed.
- Read GreenStar publications to stay informed.
- Respect and comply with storewide personnel policies.
- Adhere to scheduled shifts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Experienced in bakery production.
- Communication – effective interpersonal communication with team members.
- Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments.
- Open to input/feedback on work performance.
- Open to giving input/feedback on Bakery department.
- Self-Driven/Motivated throughout shift.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands, stay calm, and prioritize.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds repetitively.
