Job Summary:
Modern Tek Solutions is seeking a motivated and dependable Low Voltage Projects Technician to join our growing Projects Team. This role is focused on large-scale project installations and requires flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to travel to job sites throughout Florida. As the company continues to grow, future travel opportunities outside of Florida may also be required.
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working in different environments, can adapt to changing project schedules, and is comfortable staying overnight when needed to support project deadlines and customer demands. This position plays a critical role in representing Modern Tek Solutions on active construction and commercial project sites.
Responsibilities:
- Install, terminate, label, and test low-voltage cabling systems including data, voice, video, security, and access control systems.
- Assist with and perform fiber optic work including testing, termination, and fusion splicing based on experience level.
- Read and interpret project drawings, floor plans, and installation documentation.
- Travel to project sites throughout Florida and stay overnight as required for project schedules.
- Maintain professionalism while working on customer sites, construction sites, hotels, and commercial properties.
- Work collaboratively with Project Managers, Lead Technicians, subcontractors, and other field personnel.
- Troubleshoot installation issues and ensure systems are installed according to company and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate job documentation including photos, notes, testing results, and as-built information.
- Follow all company safety procedures and maintain safe work practices at all times.
- Operate and work safely on ladders, lifts, and other jobsite equipment when required.
- Maintain company tools, vehicles, and equipment in proper working condition.
- Adapt to changing project schedules, customer demands, and evolving jobsite conditions.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in low-voltage cabling, structured cabling, or related construction fields preferred.
- Basic knowledge of network cabling, security systems, audio/visual systems, or fiber optics preferred.
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout Florida for project work.
- Flexibility to stay overnight for extended project assignments when needed.
- Willingness to travel outside of Florida in the future as company operations expand.
- Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and installation methods.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and jobsite equipment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record preferred.
- Certifications such as BICSI, OSHA, Lift Certifications, or CompTIA Network+ are advantageous.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights.
- Able to walk, stand, bend, and move for extended periods of time, both indoors and outdoors.
- Ability to work in high-temperature environments during Florida summers.
- Ability to travel for extended periods depending on project needs.
