The Role: Counter Sales Representative (Seasonal), Landscape Supplies

While we provide the environment, we need you to provide the operational muscle and exceptional customer service. As a Counter Sales Representative, you are the primary point of contact for our customers, serving as the backbone of our daily retail and landscape supply sales operations.

Your Daily Impact:

  • Customer Service & Counter Sales: Provide prompt, professional service to walk-in customers and phone inquiries. Assist with product selection, prepare quotes, and accurately process sales transactions.

  • Order Entry & Admin Support: Accurately enter sales orders, invoices, and customer details into company systems. Utilize spreadsheets and digital systems to track orders and operational data with high attention to detail.

  • Material Calculations: Help customers figure out exactly what they need by performing basic mathematical calculations for material quantities, cubic yardage, and square footage.

  • Operational Collaboration: Work collaboratively with yard staff, dispatch, and office personnel to maintain a clean, organized customer service area and support daily landscape supply operations.

  • Seasonal Adaptability: Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, comfortably adapting to seasonal workload demands and peak volume periods.

The Essentials for Growth (KSAs)

To truly thrive in this role, you’ll need a solid foundation of skills and the right mindset:

  • Knowledge: Working knowledge of landscape supply products (soils, mulch, aggregates, sod). A general understanding of workplace health and safety principles in a warehouse or yard environment is required , and familiarity with retail transaction standards is an asset.

  • Skills: Proficiency with basic computer systems, data entry, and Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. Strong typing accuracy and basic numerical reasoning are essential. Experience with Aspire, QuickBooks, or similar ERP systems is a strong asset.

  • Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in customer service, retail counter sales, or admin support. Experience handling cash, processing transactions , and working in a fast-paced landscape supply or building materials industry is highly preferred.

  • Abilities: Ability to handle the physical demands of a shifting retail and outdoor yard environment, including periods of standing, sitting, and computer use. Availability for Saturday shifts is required.

  • Mindset: A "Can-Do" attitude with a customer-service orientation. You possess effective time management skills and the flexibility to adapt to seasonal demand fluctuations.
