This is a highly unconventional, early-stage builder role designed for engineers who thrive in ambiguity and move fluidly between product thinking and technical execution. You will operate at the intersection of ideation, prototyping, and company creation, helping transform loosely defined problems into concrete, testable, and scalable software products. The environment is fast-moving, exploratory, and deeply cross-functional, requiring strong ownership and adaptability. You will contribute directly to the formation of new ventures across multiple domains, including healthcare, cybersecurity, and national security. This role is ideal for individuals who think like founders, build quickly, and use modern AI tools as force multipliers. Your work will directly influence what gets built, why it gets built, and how ideas evolve into real companies.
- Transform ambiguous problem statements into structured technical approaches, product directions, and early prototypes.
- Build zero-to-one products, APIs, workflows, and experimental systems that define early-stage ventures.
- Collaborate closely with founders and partners to shape product vision, technical architecture, and execution priorities.
- Operate as a builder–operator across multiple incubation efforts, adapting quickly as priorities and ideas evolve.
- Apply AI-native development practices to accelerate iteration, testing, and product validation cycles.
- Evaluate technical and product trade-offs, balancing speed, scalability, and long-term system design.
- Contribute to defining what should be built by integrating business context with engineering execution.
- Strong technical background in software engineering, systems development, machine learning, or related fields.
- Proven experience building and shipping products or systems end-to-end, ideally in early-stage or fast-moving environments.
- Ability to operate effectively with incomplete requirements and rapidly changing priorities.
- Strong product intuition with the ability to connect technical decisions to business outcomes.
- Experience with rapid prototyping, iterative development, and modern AI-assisted engineering workflows.
- Comfort working in ambiguous, high-ownership environments requiring independent decision-making.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a founder-like mindset focused on speed, ownership, and first-principles thinking.
- Nice to have: experience in startups, founding teams, or interest in launching new ventures.
- Competitive base salary range of $140,000 to $300,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
