Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Risk Strategist, Onboarding and Compliance in the United States.
This role sits at the intersection of risk strategy, product development, and regulatory compliance, helping shape how financial products are safely launched and scaled across global markets. You will design and implement risk-based frameworks that ensure onboarding, KYC/KYB, and compliance controls are robust, scalable, and aligned with evolving regulatory expectations. The position requires close partnership with product, engineering, legal, and compliance stakeholders to translate complex financial regulations into practical, technical system requirements. You will contribute directly to the design of compliant financial flows across lending, treasury, issuing, and global payments infrastructure. This is a highly cross-functional and strategic role where your decisions will influence product safety, customer trust, and global expansion readiness. You will operate in a fast-paced environment that blends fintech innovation with traditional financial regulatory rigor. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity and enjoys building structured, scalable solutions in complex regulatory landscapes.
- Design and implement risk-based KYC/KYB frameworks and onboarding controls for financial products, ensuring alignment with regulatory and business requirements.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Legal, and Compliance teams to translate regulatory obligations into scalable technical and operational solutions.
- Develop and document compliant funds flow models for global payment networks and financial products, ensuring accurate interpretation of scheme rules and requirements.
- Own technical compliance documentation, converting complex regulatory frameworks (e.g., lending laws, financial crimes, payment network rules) into actionable engineering guidance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across legal, customer support, partnerships, and compliance to drive alignment and execution of risk strategies.
- Engage with external financial partners to communicate compliance frameworks, build trust, and ensure alignment on operational controls.
- Use data-driven analysis to evaluate control effectiveness, inform risk strategy, and support decision-making across onboarding and compliance systems.
- Support international expansion efforts by adapting compliance and onboarding frameworks to new markets, regulatory regimes, and payment schemes.
- Identify opportunities to improve onboarding efficiency while maintaining strong risk and compliance standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of risk policies, systems, and operational workflows in a rapidly evolving fintech environment.
- 5+ years of experience in risk, compliance, onboarding, financial crime, audit, or related roles within fintech, payments, or banking environments.
- Proven experience designing and implementing KYC/KYB programs for business or merchant onboarding.
- Strong ability to collaborate with product and engineering teams, including writing technical requirements and solution design documentation.
- Experience managing complex, cross-functional initiatives with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, including experience engaging with external financial partners or regulators.
- Ability to analyze data to inform risk strategy, measure control effectiveness, and support decision-making.
- Strong comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-paced, and high-growth environments.
- Deep understanding of financial regulations, compliance frameworks, and/or payment systems is highly preferred.
- Preferred expertise in U.S. financial regulations (e.g., lending, fair lending, AML/KYC requirements) or global payment networks (e.g., ACH, SEPA, RTP, FPS).
- Bonus: SQL proficiency, familiarity with AI tools for analysis and documentation, or exposure to digital assets and crypto payment flows.
- Competitive compensation with potential equity participation.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge financial infrastructure products at global scale.
- Flexible and remote-friendly work environment.
- High-impact role with direct influence on product safety and global expansion.
- Collaborative, cross-functional culture spanning product, engineering, legal, and compliance teams.
- Professional development opportunities in fintech, risk strategy, and regulatory innovation.
- Inclusive work environment committed to diversity and equal opportunity.
