Culture Coordinator

10-Month Position | Hourly

Reports To: Director of Culture and Learning

We are seeking a Culture Coordinator who is passionate about supporting student success, fostering positive relationships, and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and academically focused school environment.

Position Summary

The Culture Coordinator serves as a key member of the school culture team and is responsible for supporting student accountability, behavior interventions, attendance initiatives, and restorative practices. This role maintains a highly visible presence throughout the school, responds to student behavioral concerns, partners with staff and families, and helps create a positive learning environment where students can thrive.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSchool Culture and Student Support

• Serve as the first responder for student behavioral incidents using restorative practices and interventions.

• Enforce school-wide expectations related to uniforms, hallway behavior, attendance, and student conduct.

• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, students, and families to address student needs and concerns.

• Respond to and de-escalate student conflicts and behavioral situations.

• Document incidents and interventions in student information and behavior tracking systems.

MTSS and Student Intervention

• Participate in Behavioral Health Team (BHT) meetings.

• Monitor student data related to behavior, attendance, and grades.

• Implement Tier 2 interventions including behavior contracts, check-in/check-out systems, and targeted student supports.

• Assist in identifying students who may need additional interventions and support services.

School Operations and Supervision

• Maintain an active and visible presence throughout assigned areas of the building during instructional periods and passing times.

• Monitor hallways, restrooms, and common areas to ensure students remain engaged and on schedule.

• Support student arrival and dismissal procedures.

• Conduct end-of-day building sweeps and complete required documentation.

• Assist with maintaining a safe and orderly school environment.

Attendance and Family Engagement

• Conduct attendance outreach and maintain regular communication with families.

• Assist with attendance contracts and intervention plans.

• Conduct home visits for students identified as chronically absent.

• Support parent conferences and family engagement efforts.

School Events and Activities

• Attend and supervise school-wide events, extracurricular activities, and athletic competitions as assigned.

• Assist with student activities and culture-building initiatives.

• Perform periodic security and safety checks as needed.

Professional Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

• Participate in required professional development activities.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Culture and Learning.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's degree or higher in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Youth Development, or a related field.

• Experience working with high school students in an educational, youth development, or community-based setting.

• Knowledge of restorative practices, behavior intervention strategies, and trauma-informed approaches.

• Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.

• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.

• Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds.

• Ability to maintain accurate documentation and records.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to walk throughout the building for extended periods.

• Ability to move quickly throughout the school in response to student needs.

• Ability to supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and school events.
