This is a high-impact leadership role focused on delivering full life-cycle commissioning for complex, mission-critical facilities, including advanced data centers and high-performance infrastructure. The position combines deep technical expertise with program management, requiring oversight of multi-disciplinary teams and coordination across owners, designers, contractors, and vendors. You will play a key role in ensuring systems are designed, installed, tested, and optimized to meet stringent performance and reliability standards. Operating in fast-paced, high-complexity environments, you will guide commissioning strategy from pre-construction through final turnover. The role blends hands-on technical validation with strategic project leadership, financial oversight, and stakeholder management. It is ideal for a self-directed professional who thrives in remote collaboration while also engaging in significant on-site commissioning activities.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will lead end-to-end commissioning execution for complex projects, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, quality, and client expectations while driving operational excellence across all phases.

  • Manage full commissioning lifecycle activities including kickoff, scheduling, RFIs, submittals, design reviews, functional testing, and project closeout, ensuring compliance with technical and contractual requirements.
  • Develop and maintain commissioning plans, test procedures, and detailed schedules while coordinating resources, staffing needs, and cross-functional project execution.
  • Oversee QA/QC processes, validate system performance, and ensure successful startup, cutover, and testing of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Monitor project financials including budgets, margins, forecasting, and change orders, ensuring profitability and cost control throughout execution.
  • Lead client and stakeholder engagement, including meetings, reporting, presentations, and relationship management to ensure satisfaction and long-term partnership growth.
  • Support on-site commissioning activities such as system validation, troubleshooting, vendor coordination, and performance verification in mission-critical environments.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by supporting policy development, process optimization, and best practice implementation across commissioning programs.
Requirements

This role requires a strong blend of technical commissioning expertise, project leadership capability, and stakeholder management experience in complex infrastructure environments.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, or related field, or equivalent hands-on technical experience in mechanical, electrical, controls, or critical infrastructure systems.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in installation, testing, validation, and troubleshooting of mission-critical or large-scale building systems, with prior commissioning or project management responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of commissioning processes, construction methodologies, MEP systems, and industry standards for high-performance facilities.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects, coordinate multiple stakeholders, and deliver results under pressure in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to translate technical issues into clear updates for clients and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools and strong capability in documentation, reporting, scheduling, and data organization.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a remote environment while managing multiple concurrent priorities.
Benefits
  • Competitive annual salary range: $133,000 – $163,000 USD, based on experience and location
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, including coverage for dependents
  • 401(k) plan with company match and brokerage account options
  • Paid time off, including additional end-of-year company holiday period
  • Life insurance, AD&D coverage, and short- and long-term disability benefits
  • Flexible remote work structure with significant travel opportunities (initially up to 75%, then ~25%)
  • Professional development support, tuition reimbursement, and licensing assistance
  • Paid parental leave after qualifying tenure
  • Exposure to large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure projects with global impact
