Job Description
Lovell Academy is a boarding school that allows players to skate multiple hours a day, engage in sport specific off-ice training and conditioning and focus on both academic and athletic success. Lovell Academy is seeking candidates for our Residential Advisor positions for the upcoming academic year starting in August 2025. We are looking for people to join our team who will partner in building a positive, supportive and engaging environment within the boarding program for all our student-athletes.
This Residential Advisor (RA) position is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates interested in pursuing a teaching career, as it offers valuable experience in a teaching assistant capacity. RAs will engage with students, assist in educational programming, and receive mentorship from experienced faculty members, making this role a strong stepping stone toward a career in teaching or student support services.
Please note in addition to compensation, this position provides paid room and board.
Responsibilities:
- Express enthusiasm and concern for our student-athletes’ experiences and learning and growth in all areas
- Active and visible presence during supervisory duties and remind student-athletes of expectations when needed
- Work live-in shifts with overnight and daytime responsibilities on a rotating basis
- Know dorm safety and evacuation procedures and reinforce them with student-athletes
- Support student hall monitors in their work with their peers to maintain the dorm (specifically, table cleaning rotation and trash disposal)
- Connect student-athletes to any necessary administration/support personnel re: well-being and behavior within the school
- Assist with scheduled dorm activities and help chaperone off-campus trips
- Oversee the arrival and departure of student-athletes throughout the school year from vacations and ensure that all necessary closing procedures are accomplished
- Possess a valid driver’s license and drive school vehicles when asked
- Report any needed maintenance for either the dorm or school vehicle in a timely fashion
- All other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
Flexible with the ability to engage in teamwork and work cooperatively with others
Ability to correspond in English with parents, students, colleagues, and others
Ability to use technology in communication
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Experience working with teenagers in an educational or camp setting preferred
Physical Requirements:
Ability to relocate from one physical space to another throughout the course of the day and attend off-site trips
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. (e.g., lifting drink packages for student life events)
Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities. (e.g., move within offices within and between the Academy and the Arena)
Possess/Obtain Valid Driver's License
