In this role, you will be a member of our highly reputable cost management and estimating team. The cost team delivers solutions to clients in the areas of conceptual estimating, budget development, cost planning, feasibility studies, value management, economic forecasting, milestone reports, pre- and post-contract auditing, change order review and reconciliation, BIM 5D cost modeling, LEED cost analysis, life cycle costing, and more. We are currently hiring for a Project Controls Specialist in the Malta, NY area. In this role, you will have the opportunity to grow your project controls and cost knowledge within all phases of a project, while gaining experience on a large-scale semi-conductor project.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and provide support to project managers, and the client’s facilities staff to establish and maintain project control tools and reporting cadences.

  • Gather and track quality data used for budgets, contracts, forecasts, earned value management, change order verification, trends, and actual costs.

  • Maintain management reporting data to produce program controls reports and systems integrated PowerBI dashboards.

  • Ensure regular and timely reporting of the projects’ earned value progress to advise of any conditions that would affect timelines or costs.

  • Field verify monthly invoices and earned value against progress & quantity completion on the construction site.

  • Review, track, and log all change orders and maintain change management software for up-to-date reporting.

  • Routinely review pay applications, change orders and contracts for accuracy and alignment with budget and board approval.

  • Assist the project management & cost team with various parts of the project such as constructability review, value engineering, pay app reviews, schedule development, FF&E program development and execution.

  • Assist in formulating the design, bid, and project phase of scheduling.

  • Under supervision of Project Controls Manager, support any pre-bid and job start meetings/field walks as needed.

  • Monitor contract compliance and reporting concerns to Project Controls Manager.

  • Under the supervision of Project Controls Manager, facilitate cost meetings and prepare meeting minutes.

  • Oversee approvals from applicable government/permitting agencies and ensure they are received and documented.

  • Under supervision of Project Controls Manager, conduct close out activities.

  • Support QA/QC process.

  • Review change orders for completeness and conformance to company and client standards.

  • Review RFIs/Submittals for completeness before distribution to design team.

  • Provide P6 scheduling support and budget management.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Attendance at work during normal business hours.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Experience with various project control tools and software.

  • Ability to read drawings and participate in field progress verification walks.

  • Experience gathering and tracking quality data relating to budgets, contracts, change orders, trends and actual cost.

  • Experience with the QA/QC process and project scheduling.

  • Utilize effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Understand how your role contributes to the organization's goals.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience.

  • Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in construction administration is required.

  • Preferred Certification: Primavera Systems Certification or equivalent for document control software usage.

  • Experience: Prior experience working on large scale semi-conductor, manufacturing, life sciences or data center projects is preferred.

The salary range for this full-time role is $84,400.00-$112,533.35 per year. Ranges are determined based on the position, geography, client and industry experience and level, and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package. Cumming Group reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, including client requirements.
