Description:

This position is contingent upon contract award.

The Painter Maintenance position in berthing and messing operations is involved in directly supporting the upkeep of barges, ships, and related facilities by applying protective coatings, preparing surfaces, and maintaining appearance and integrity. Their duties will include (but not limited to) painting interior and exterior surfaces in conjunction with service work, recurring work, and other services as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Paint interior and exterior surfaces.

· Perform deep clean and sanitization of interior and exterior surfaces (including buffing and waxing).

· Protect and restore to original condition for furnishings, equipment, floor coverings, and other surfaces. Items such as hardware, hardware accessories, machined surfaces, blinds, curtains, plates, light fixtures, and similar items in contact with painted surfaces shall be removed, masked, or otherwise protected prior to surface preparation.

· Provide assistance in habitability repairs/replacements such as:

  • composition ceiling panel (2 ft. x 4 ft.) vinyl coated.
  • ceiling tile T-Rail
  • towel rack
  • soap dish
  • shower curtain including hooks
  • shower mat
  • toilet paper holder (frame and spool)
  • mini blind
  • automatic door closures
  • bulkhead insulation (thickness of 1” and 2”)

· Provide assistance with pipe replacements or preservation for pipe lagging up to 4 inches in diameter and lagging pads.

· Exterior preservation up to 1,00 sq. ft.

· Interior preservation (90% Interior Compartments, 10% Wet Spaces).

· Accomplish a preliminary and final visual and operational inspection of all systems and equipment utilizing barge systems and equipment check off list (BSEC). Submit a detailed report on all discrepancies.

· Other duties as identified and assigned

Requirements:

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Active DoD Personnel Security Clearance Required
  • 1-3 years of shipboard painting experience, including knowledge of U.S. Navy layouts, control plates, placards, and symbols (if applicable)
  • Proficiency in surface preparation, coating application, and marine painting techniques.
  • Familiarity with safety equipment (respirators, PPE) and shipboard safety procedures Teal.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

  • As Required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • As Required.

Security Responsibilities

  • Eligible and obtain a DoD Personnel Security Clearance.
  • Must comply with all company Information Systems security policies and procedures.
  • May be responsible for proper classification and marking of all information and materials. Employee shall not divulge any information, or afford access to other employees not having a need-to-know authorization. Shall not divulge information outside the company without management approval. Will be required to execute company non-disclosure agreement prior to access to any controlled information.

Language Skills

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex words and technical documents/diagrams.

Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing and work effectively as part of a team.

Reasoning Ability and Mathematical Skills

Must be able to analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable. Must be able to calculate figures and numbers, and percentages and be able to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings.

  • Must be able to detect odors, noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect discrepancies of malfunctioning equipment.

  • Must be able to perform Domestic and International travel as required.
  • Shop floor environment.
  • Will be working in areas with risk of injury from electrical applications, moving mechanical parts, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems under pressure and electrical motion systems.
  • May be exposed to conditions of extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises.
