Job Summary

The Visual Merchandiser / Showroom Stylist is responsible for executing corporate visual merchandising strategies across multiple departments to enhance the customer shopping experience and drive retail sales. This role serves as a creative, hands-on designer, managing the physical placement, rotation, and styling of lifestyle vignettes, custom fabrics, and home decor accessories to create a showroom that feels aspirational and organized.

Key Responsibilities

Showroom Layout & Vignette Styling

  • Execute Floor Plans: Implement in-store visual presentations and regular floor moves that align with corporate brand directives and weekly work plans.
  • Lifestyle Styling: Curate and dress realistic living room settings, fully accessorizing vignettes with lighting, area rugs, accent tables, and tabletop decor.
  • Fabric & Color Coordination: Update pillows, throws, and customizable fabric pairings on La-Z-Boy's signature motion and stationary furniture collections to showcase current interior trends.

Inventory & Operations Management

  • Product Tracking: Monitor incoming product truck shipments (ETS) and strategically prioritize core inventory and weekly specials for floor presentation. Stock & Clearance Flow: Partner with warehouse teams to manage the flow of clearance items and coordinate physical inventory transfers between showrooms and regional distribution centers.
  • Ticketing & Compliance: Ensure every piece of furniture on the floor is accurately labeled, priced, and paired with correct corporate Point of Sale (POS) marketing materials.
  • Team Leadership & Brand Standards
  • Staff Training: Mentor and coach retail staff on daily store recovery plans and basic visual merchandising techniques to maintain showroom presentation standards.
  • Safety & Maintenance: Ensure all displays, gallery lighting, and heavy visual items are kept clean, stable, and in strict compliance with store safety guidelines. [1, 2]

Requirements & Skills

  • Experience: 1–3 years of proven experience in furniture retail styling, showroom design, or residential staging.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and a strong portfolio demonstrating visual composition and color theory.
  • Travel: A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel extensively to manage multiple store locations within a designated market.

Physical Demands

This is a highly physical, active role. Candidates must be comfortable standing and walking for long periods, climbing ladders, hanging heavy wall art, moving decorative rugs, and frequently lifting or pushing display items.
