Job Description
The MRO Inventory Coordinator is responsible for managing inventory levels of maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) materials, supplies, and services to support efficient plant operations. This position ensures inventory accuracy, maintains appropriate stock levels, supports purchasing activities, and identifies opportunities to improve inventory control and reduce excess inventory. The role works closely with Maintenance, Operations, and Purchasing to ensure materials are available when needed while maintaining cost-effective inventory practices.
- Create purchase requisitions for MRO materials, supplies, and services in accordance with operational needs and purchasing procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels and replenish stock to maintain appropriate availability and minimize production disruptions.
- Maintain and update minimum/maximum inventory levels based on usage, lead times, and operational requirements.
- Investigate inventory shortages, discrepancies, and variances to identify root causes and improve inventory accuracy.
- Assist with cycle counts and inventory accuracy improvement initiatives.
- Analyze inventory usage and recommend reductions or adjustments for slow-moving, obsolete, or excess inventory.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure system data aligns with physical inventory levels.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to inventory management processes.
- Crosstrain on purchasing functions to provide departmental flexibility and backup support.
- Provide purchasing coverage during vacations, absences, or periods of increased workload.
- Assist with special purchasing, inventory, and process improvement projects as assigned.
Communicate effectively with internal departments and suppliers to support timely availability of materials.
