About Housing ConnectorHousing Connector is a tech-for-good nonprofit transforming how communities use the private housing market to address homelessness. We partner with property owners and managers to reduce barriers that prevent people from accessing housing, while providing the financial and resident support that gives housing providers confidence to open more homes to people who need them.
Our model brings together property partners, community organizations, government, philanthropy, and technology to create simpler, more scalable pathways to housing. What started in Seattle in 2019 has grown into a multi-market organization with an ambitious vision: to deliver simple and scalable solutions until every person has a home.

You will help hire as the team grows and communicate engineering priorities and tradeoffs to leaders across the organization. What You Will Do- Lead, coach, and develop engineers through clear expectations, regular feedback, and support for their growth.
- Build and grow the engineering team by identifying future talent needs, leading hiring and selection, and helping new engineers onboard and become effective.
- Partner with product and design to shape priorities, plan work, make realistic commitments, and communicate delivery risks early.
- Stay hands-on through coding, design discussions, code review, and solving complex technical problems.
- Guide technical decisions across application architecture, APIs, data, testing, releases, security, and infrastructure.
- Build shared understanding of the platform and improve practices that help the team deliver reliably as it grows.
- Communicate progress, risks, tradeoffs, and capacity needs to organizational leaders, including contributing to board updates when needed.
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing software engineers, including giving feedback, setting priorities, and supporting performance and growth.
- Recent hands-on experience building and shipping web applications, data platforms, and cloud infrastructure, with the ability to work effectively in a multi-PaaS tech stack.
- Strong working knowledge of web frameworks, SQL, API and database design, and software quality assurance.
- Sound judgment about technical tradeoffs, including when to improve an existing system and when to keep delivery moving.
- Experience partnering with product and design to understand user needs and shape solutions before implementation.
- Ability to explain technical decisions and risks clearly to people who do not work in engineering.
- Experience defining standards and policies around data privacy, security, and accessibility.
- Experience with embedding AI assistance across the SDLC, as well as implementing rigor and discipline around reviewing AI generated or AI assisted code
