About the Role:

The Service Cashier plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional customer experience within the retail environment by efficiently processing transactions and providing friendly, accurate service. This position is responsible for handling cash, credit, and other forms of payment while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. The Service Cashier acts as the first point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly to maintain customer satisfaction. Additionally, the role involves maintaining a clean and organized checkout area and supporting inventory management through accurate transaction recording. Ultimately, the Service Cashier contributes to the smooth operation of the store and helps foster a welcoming atmosphere that encourages repeat business.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic math skills and ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
• Previous experience in a retail or customer service role preferred but not required.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience using point-of-sale (POS) systems and cash registers.
• Familiarity with retail inventory and sales processes.
• Ability to handle difficult customer situations with patience and professionalism.
• Bilingual skills to assist a diverse customer base.
• Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities:

• Greet customers warmly and provide prompt, courteous service at the point of sale.
• Accurately process cash, credit, debit, and other payment transactions using the store’s POS system.
• Verify prices, scan items, and ensure correct pricing and discounts are applied.
• Handle customer inquiries, returns, and exchanges professionally and efficiently.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area and assist with restocking as needed.
• Follow all cash handling and security procedures to minimize risk and ensure accuracy.
• Collaborate with team members and management to support store operations and customer satisfaction.
