About Silverback Concrete
Silverback Concrete is a family-led commercial concrete subcontractor built on grit, accountability, and a client-first mindset. We specialize in mission-critical and data center construction, self-performing structural and slab concrete scopes on some of the most demanding campuses in the country. Our reputation is earned in the field — through quality work, dependable schedule performance, and the kind of ownership that makes general contractors want us back on the next project. As our data center work scales across Virginia and the broader Mid-Atlantic, we are expanding our project management bench with people who want to grow with the company. When we say “We’ve Got Your Back,” we mean it for our clients, our crews, and each other.
Position Summary
The Logistics Coordinator keeps Silverback’s concrete crews supplied and moving. Based out of our South Hill, VA yard, this hands-on role is on the road most of the day — hauling materials, tools, and equipment from the yard to our jobsite campuses, making runs to suppliers and hardware stores for what the field needs now, and keeping fuel, deliveries, and small logistics handled so crews never lose time waiting on a part. Working closely with the superintendents and field teams, the Logistics Coordinator loads and secures loads safely, keeps the yard and company vehicles in order, tracks what goes where, and turns a call from the field into a delivery on site the same day. It’s a role for someone dependable, safety-minded, and quick on their feet who takes pride in keeping the whole operation running.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
The Logistics Coordinator keeps materials, tools, and equipment flowing between the yard, the jobsites, and suppliers. Primary responsibilities include:
• Material & equipment delivery: Load, haul, and deliver materials, tools, and equipment from the yard to our jobsite campuses throughout the day, safely and on time.
• Supplier & hardware runs: Make daily runs to suppliers, ready-mix and rebar yards, and hardware stores to pick up what the field needs, and get it to the crews without delay.
• Loading & securing: Safely load, secure, and unload trucks and trailers; verify quantities and condition before leaving the yard or supplier.
• Vehicle & equipment upkeep: Keep company trucks and equipment fueled, clean, and in safe working order; report maintenance needs and keep vehicles ready for the next run.
• Yard organization: Keep the yard, materials, and small tools organized and inventoried so loads can be staged quickly and nothing goes missing.
• Receiving & staging: Receive deliveries at the yard, check them against orders and packing slips, and stage materials for the jobsites they are headed to.
• Documentation: Keep receipts, delivery tickets, and pickup records organized and turned in, so purchases and deliveries are documented and easy to track.
• Field support & safety: Respond to field requests quickly, communicate delays or shortages early, and follow all traffic, jobsite, and load-safety rules on every run.
Expectations
Success in this role is measured by crews having what they need, when they need it, without drama. We expect the Logistics Coordinator to:
• Be dependable and on time — crews plan their day around materials showing up when promised.
• Drive safely and represent Silverback well on the road, at suppliers, and on every jobsite.
• Keep loads secure and legal, and never cut corners on load or traffic safety to save time.
• Communicate early — flag a shortage, a delay, or a problem before it stops the field.
• Take care of company vehicles, tools, and equipment as if they were your own.
• Stay organized with receipts, tickets, and what has been delivered where.
• Bring a helpful, get-it-done attitude and pitch in wherever the operation needs a hand.
Required Qualifications
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; comfortable driving trucks and towing trailers.
• One or more years of experience in delivery, materials handling, warehouse, yard, or a related hands-on role.
• Ability to safely lift and move up to 50 pounds repeatedly and stay on your feet throughout the day.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to manage a full day of runs with minimal supervision.
• Basic comfort with a smartphone for calls, texts, photos, and simple delivery or expense apps.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather and around active construction.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience delivering construction materials or supplies to jobsites.
• Forklift, telehandler, or DOT certification (or willingness to obtain — Silverback will support certification).
• Familiarity with concrete materials and tools (rebar, embeds, forms, curing supplies).
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus for coordinating with crews and suppliers.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
This is a physically active, on-the-road role based out of the yard and jobsites. The Logistics Coordinator spends much of the day driving and must be able to load and unload materials, lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly, climb in and out of trucks, and work on uneven terrain in all weather conditions. Personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, and boots) is required on-site. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
Compensation & Benefits
Silverback Concrete offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience. The benefits below are representative — confirm against the current company package before posting.
Base Pay | $18 – $24 per hour, depending on experience (overtime eligible) |
Benefits | Health, dental, and vision insurance; paid time off and holidays; professional development support and opportunities to grow into field or operations roles. (Confirm against current company package before posting.) |
