Job Description
Urban Farmer is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Forklift Operator / Backup CDL Driver to join our Warehouse & Logistics team. This role will primarily operate as a forklift driver supporting warehouse operations, inventory movement, shipping, and receiving activities, while also serving as a backup CDL driver as needed for coverage and relief support.
The ideal candidate will have prior forklift experience, a valid CDL license, strong attention to safety, and flexibility to support both 1st and 2nd shift operations when needed.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesForklift & Warehouse Operations- Safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial equipment throughout the facility
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, and incoming/outgoing shipments
- Move raw materials, packaging, work-in-progress, and finished goods throughout the warehouse and production areas
- Ensure pallets and product loads are secure, accurate, and properly staged
- Assist with shipping, receiving, inventory counts, and material verification
- Maintain organization and cleanliness within warehouse and dock areas
- Complete required shift paperwork, inventory documentation, and shipping records
- Follow production schedules and support operational needs across departments
- Serve as backup CDL driver when coverage is needed due to vacations, absences, or operational demands
- Perform yard spotting and trailer movements safely and efficiently
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Transport trailers and materials between designated locations as required
- Maintain accurate logs and transportation documentation
- Follow all DOT regulations, company driving policies, and safety procedures
- Follow all GMP, Food Safety, OSHA, Plant Safety, and company policies
- Wear required PPE and maintain a safe working environment
- Report equipment issues, damages, or safety concerns immediately
- Assist other departments as operational needs require
- Support team goals while maintaining productivity and quality standards
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous forklift experience required
- Valid CDL license required
- Prior warehouse or food manufacturing experience preferred
- Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and warehouse equipment
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to support both 1st and 2nd shift coverage as needed
- Strong attendance and reliability
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout shift
- Ability to work in cold, freezer, and warehouse environments
- Ability to safely operate equipment for extended periods of time
- Must be able to wear all required PPE
This position operates in a food manufacturing and warehouse environment with exposure to refrigerated and freezer conditions, moving machinery, forklift traffic, and varying noise levels. Safety and food quality standards must be followed at all times.
