About the Role:
The HVAC Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems within a manufacturing environment. This position involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining complex HVAC equipment, including boilers and commercial refrigeration units, to support uninterrupted production processes. The technician will be responsible for conducting routine inspections and preventive maintenance to identify potential issues before they impact operations. Additionally, the role requires accurate documentation through routine reports and correspondence to maintain compliance and facilitate communication with management and other departments. Ultimately, the HVAC Technician contributes to a safe, comfortable, and efficient workplace by applying technical expertise to electrical, plumbing, and structural components related to HVAC systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
- State of Massachusetts EPA License/ Refrigeration License required.
- Refrigeration/HVAC Technician with more than 7 years of experience in Commercial Refrigeration such as Hospital Facilities/ Office Buildings or the Pharmaceutical industry among others.
- Corrective and monitoring of equipment such as chillers, boilers, cooling towers. Troubleshooting commercial units, 10 ton and above.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ammonia Glycol /systems experience preferred.
- Experience working within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Additional certifications in electrical systems or plumbing.
- Demonstrated ability to write clear and concise technical reports.
Responsibilities:
- Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial HVAC systems, including boilers and refrigeration units.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues related to HVAC equipment and implement effective solutions.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
- Write detailed reports and correspondence documenting work performed, system status, and recommendations.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and facilities teams to coordinate HVAC system needs and minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations while working on electrical wiring and other system components.
- Assist with drywall and structural repairs as needed to support HVAC system installations and maintenance.
Skills:
The required skills such as repairing HVAC systems, handling refrigerants, and working with boilers are essential for diagnosing and resolving equipment issues efficiently to maintain manufacturing operations. Writing routine reports and correspondence ensures clear communication and documentation of maintenance activities and system status. Knowledge of electrical wiring and electrical systems is critical for troubleshooting and repairing complex HVAC components safely. Plumbing skills support the maintenance and repair of water and gas lines integral to HVAC functionality. Additionally, familiarity with drywall work allows the technician to manage structural repairs related to HVAC installations, ensuring a comprehensive approach to system upkeep.
