Job Description

About Spectacle

For more than 25 years, Spectacle has been at the intersection of clinical excellence and high fashion. As an award-winning industry leader, we’ve built our brand on the belief that everyone deserves eyewear as unique as they are. We celebrate creativity in all its forms, offering our clients access to the highest quality products and expert service that feels personal, honest, and exciting. Join us in our mission to bring exceptional style and clarity to our community, one frame at a time.

About the Role

At Spectacle, a Student Optician isn't just a staff member; you are a curator of vision and style. Your purpose is to exceed client expectations by blending clinical expertise with a high-fashion sensibility. You’ll promote the Spectacle culture through impeccable service and a deep, comprehensive knowledge of our curated eyewear, sunwear, and vision care products.

Think of yourself as part optician, part stylist, part problem-solver, and full-time brand ambassador. You are the face of our mission: ensuring every visitor is served with genuine enthusiasm, expertise, and honesty.

What You’ll Do
  • Elevate the Experience: Provide "concierge-level" service, guiding clients through the journey of selecting frames that perfectly match their prescription and personality.
  • Curate Style: Demonstrate exceptional product knowledge, acting as an expert stylist who understands face shapes, color theory, and the technical nuances of bridge fits.
  • Master the Technical: Assist in precisely measuring pupillary distance, vertex distance, and pantoscopic tilt. You’ll also handle frame adjustments and minor repairs with a "steady-hand" finesse.
  • Think Like an Owner: Brainstorm creative ways to optimize the customer journey and improve store flow.
  • Bridge the Gap: Communicate Spectacle’s core values and independent brand philosophies to customers who are looking for something more than "just a pair of glasses."
  • Collaborate: Work seamlessly with our Optometrists and senior Opticians to ensure a flawless handoff from the exam room to the retail floor.
Your Personality
  • Proactive & Scrappy: You’re quick on your feet and eager to take initiative without waiting for a checklist.
  • A Natural Connector: You love people, you’re a great listener, and you thrive in a team environment.
  • Style-Obsessed: You have a genuine passion for fashion, design, and the "art" of eyewear.
  • Growth-Minded: You are motivated by a fresh perspective and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Detail-Devoted: You have an eagle eye for accuracy—from entering prescriptions to ensuring every frame in the gallery is perfectly aligned.
  • Balanced: You take your craft seriously, but you don't take yourself too seriously.
Qualifications
  • Current Enrollment: You are currently enrolled in an accredited Opticianry program (in good standing) and are looking to fulfill your clinical hours in a high-end retail environment.
  • Sales Savvy: Previous experience in a sales or high-touch service environment is required.
  • The "Eye": A background in retail, management, fashion, or design is a massive asset.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility: Availability to work a retail schedule, including weekends, some evenings, and special brand events.
Why Join Us?
  • Clinical Mentorship: Gain your required hours under the guidance of seasoned professionals who care about the future of the industry.
  • Growth: Access to specialized sales and optical training programs to put you ahead of the curve.
  • Benefits: Comprehensive Company Benefits Plan and gift cards for friends/family.
  • The Perks: Significant company discounts (obviously!) and a generous eyewear allowance.
  • The Vibe: A culture that celebrates wins with regular team outings, reward programs, and exclusive launch events
