Barry McTiernan & Moore’s Manhattan office is currently seeking an experienced Trial Paralegal. This role is ideal for highly organized litigation professional with substantial experience preparing cases for trial, managing complex attorney calendars, coordinating discovery and depositions, and ensuring compliance with multiple litigation deadlines across a high-volume caseload.

Although no formal paralegal certificate is required, the ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of litigation paralegal experience, preferably in insurance defense, premises liability, New York Labor Law, municipal defense, or general liability matters. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with attorneys from the inception of case through trial while playing a critical role in trial preparation, case management, and litigation support. The candidate will also work with investigators, expert

witnesses, insurance carriers, clients, and third-party vendors to facilitate case development and trial readiness by retaining and managing experts and investigators, scheduling inspections and independent medical examinations, obtaining records and reports, coordinating witness availability, and serving as a key point of contact to ensure seamless communication among all parties throughout the litigation process.

Requirements:

Responsibilities:

· Coordinate all aspects of trial preparation, including trial binders, exhibits, witness files, demonstrative evidence, trial logistics, and expert coordination.

· Prepare and organize trial exhibits, exhibit lists, witness lists, subpoenas, trial authorizations, and trial binders.

· Coordinate with trial support vendors, court reporters, investigators, and expert witnesses.

· Assist attorneys with jury selection materials, verdict research, and trial presentations.

· Ensure all trial-related deadlines are tracked and completed timely.

· Organize and maintain electronic and physical trial files.

· Manage and maintain organized case files for a high-volume caseload from start to end of a case.

· Coordinate multiple attorney calendars and ensure attorneys are prepared for upcoming appearances, depositions, hearings, and trials.

· Proactively identify upcoming deadlines and communicate priorities to attorneys and other team members.

· Maintain up-to-date case status information and provide regular updates regarding outstanding items and critical deadlines.

· Ensure compliance with firm, court, and client reporting requirements.

· Draft legal documents including, but not limited to discovery demands and responses, authorizations, subpoenas, deposition notices, and other litigation documents.

· Coordinate and manage Examination Before Trial (EBT) calendars and scheduling.

· Process medical authorizations and coordinate the collection and review of medical records.

· Maintain discovery tracking systems and ensure all discovery obligations are satisfied timely.

· Gather, organize, and distribute records and supporting materials to experts.

· Schedule expert reviews, inspections, examinations and meetings in a timely manner.

· Collaborate closely with attorneys to support litigation strategy and case development.

· Provide exceptional organizational support in a fast-paced litigation environment.

Experience and Qualifications:

· Minimum of 5 years of litigation paralegal experience, preferably in an insurance defense firm.

· Significant trial preparation experience, including preparation of exhibits, trial binders, witness materials, and courtroom logistics.

· Experience coordinating depositions, expert witnesses, investigators, and trial schedules.

· Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple attorney calendars and manage numerous competing deadlines simultaneously.

· Experience managing a high-volume caseload from inception through trial.

· Strong understanding of New York litigation procedures, discovery practice, and court deadlines.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.

· Experience with legal document management and case management systems.

· Proficiency in LexisNexis and Westlaw preferred.

· Exceptional organizational, communication, and time-management skills.

· Ability to prioritize effectively and thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
