In this role, you will take ownership of complex commercial general liability claims, managing both litigated and non-litigated cases across a national portfolio. You will play a critical part in evaluating exposures, ensuring accurate reserves, and driving effective resolution strategies that balance cost control with optimal claim outcomes. The position requires strong technical claims expertise, sound legal and contractual analysis skills, and the ability to navigate high-stakes negotiations. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, external counsel, and industry partners to ensure thorough investigations and well-supported decisions. This is a highly autonomous role where your judgment directly influences claim outcomes, customer satisfaction, and financial performance. Occasional travel may be required for mediations, trials, and key meetings.
In this role, you will manage end-to-end handling of complex commercial liability claims while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and optimal resolution strategies, including:
- Managing litigated and non-litigated commercial general liability claims across a national caseload
- Evaluating coverage issues, contractual obligations, and risk transfer opportunities
- Ensuring timely and accurate reserving aligned with exposure analysis and claim developments
- Conducting thorough investigations of claims, including coordination with experts and external counsel
- Developing and executing negotiation and resolution strategies to achieve favorable claim outcomes
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure clear communication and effective case management
- Providing high-quality customer service and maintaining strong professional relationships across all parties
- Supporting trial preparation, mediations, and other dispute resolution proceedings as needed
- Ensuring compliance with internal procedures, regulatory requirements, and best practices in claims handling
This role requires deep experience in commercial liability claims handling and strong technical, legal, and communication capabilities:
- 7+ years of experience handling bodily injury claims, including significant experience with commercial general liability claims
- Proven experience managing both litigated and non-litigated complex claims
- Strong understanding of insurance coverage analysis, contractual interpretation, and risk transfer principles
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- High level of technical claims knowledge and familiarity with legal processes related to liability claims
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to manage high-value and complex settlements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally at all levels
- Proficiency with claims management systems and paperless file environments
- Adjuster license required (Texas and/or Florida preferred)
- Strong analytical skills and ability to make sound, independent decisions under pressure
- CPCU or AIC certification preferred
- Competitive annual salary range: $100,000 – $125,000 based on experience and qualifications
