On Demand Restaurant Services is seeking a dependable and motivated Preventive Maintenance Technician to join our growing team.

This position is focused on helping our commercial foodservice customers prevent equipment failures, extend the life of their equipment, and reduce unexpected downtime through routine inspections, cleaning, and preventive maintenance services.

Position Summary

The Preventive Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing scheduled inspections, cleaning, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting on commercial refrigeration, HVAC, cooking, and other foodservice equipment at restaurants, convenience stores, institutional kitchens, and other commercial facilities.

This role also plays an important part in identifying potential equipment problems before they become costly breakdowns and communicating those findings to customers and the On Demand service team.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance services on commercial equipment, including:
    • Walk-in coolers and freezers
    • Reach-in refrigeration
    • Ice machines
    • Commercial HVAC equipment
    • Condensers and evaporator coils
    • Fryers
    • Ovens, ranges, grills, and griddles
    • Holding and warming equipment
    • Dishwashers and warewashing equipment
    • Other commercial kitchen and foodservice equipment
  • Inspect equipment for signs of wear, damage, leaks, excessive buildup, or potential failure.
  • Clean coils, components, filters, burners, and other equipment as required by the preventive maintenance program.
  • Check equipment operation, temperatures, electrical components, connections, and other applicable systems.
  • Identify potential equipment issues and recommend additional service when necessary.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and minor repairs within the scope of the position.
  • Document equipment condition and maintenance performed.
  • Capture required before-and-after photos and equipment information through company software.
  • Complete accurate work orders, service notes, checklists, and other required documentation.
  • Communicate equipment concerns and recommendations clearly and professionally to customers.
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, cleaning equipment, and inventory.
  • Follow company procedures, manufacturer recommendations, and all applicable safety guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area while performing maintenance.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude when interacting with customers and team members.
QualificationsRequired
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn commercial foodservice equipment.
  • Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a daily service schedule.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately complete digital work orders and documentation.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
  • Ability to work on ladders and in various indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to safely work around hot equipment, refrigeration systems, electrical components, and commercial kitchen environments.
Preferred
  • Previous experience in commercial equipment maintenance, restaurant equipment, HVAC, refrigeration, facilities maintenance, or a related trade.
  • EPA Certification.
  • CFESA or manufacturer-specific training.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance on commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Experience using field service software platforms.

Previous commercial service experience is preferred but not required for the right mechanically inclined candidate who is willing to learn.
