About the role

As the Senior Sales Development Manager, you will play a key role in accelerating growth across the Waikato region by driving new customer acquisition and growing wallet share. This is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity within our Sales & Marketing function, created to bring focused, senior-level sales leadership and execution to an important regional growth opportunity.

Working alongside Waikato Agri Managers, Sales & Marketing leadership and our wider support teams, you will lead from the front on prospecting, pipeline management and customer conversion. You will identify, qualify and pursue new customer opportunities, support existing customer growth through cross-sell and up-sell activity, and help bring structure, momentum and discipline to regional acquisition efforts.

While this role does not have direct reports, it carries strong influence. You will coach and support Agri Managers in prospecting, sales technique, CRM use and customer conversations, helping lift capability across the region and supporting measurable, sustainable growth for the Co-operative.

key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a strong focus on health, safety and wellbeing by complying with all policies, procedures and safe work practices.
  • Identify, qualify and convert new customer opportunities across the Waikato region.
  • Build and maintain a healthy prospect pipeline, with clear visibility of activity, progress and outcomes.
  • Develop and execute region-level acquisition plays, targeting priority segments, geographies and competitor-held accounts.
  • Grow wallet share with existing customers by identifying practical cross-sell and up-sell opportunities across Ravensdown’s product and services portfolio.
  • Coach and support Agri Managers on prospecting, customer conversations, sales technique and pipeline discipline.
  • Champion effective use of CRM, including HubSpot, to support forecasting, prioritisation and activity tracking.
  • Use market, customer and sales data to inform where the region focuses its acquisition and growth effort.
  • Track and report progress against acquisition, wallet-share, volume, revenue and market-share targets.
  • Build strong working relationships across Sales & Marketing leadership, Agri Managers, Customer Centre, Marketing and Digital / CRM teams.

About you

You are a commercially minded, self-starting sales professional who understands the rural sector and knows how to turn opportunity into action. You bring credibility with farmers and frontline sales teams, and you are confident leading through influence rather than formal authority.

You will be comfortable getting close to customers, asking good questions, building trust and creating practical pathways to conversion. You enjoy coaching others, bringing structure to sales activity, and using data and systems to sharpen decision-making. Most importantly, you are delivery-focused, organised and motivated by helping Ravensdown grow its customer base and deliver value for shareholders.

Ideal skills & experience

  • Strong knowledge of Ravensdown’s customers, sales process and on-farm operating environment, ideally gained in an Agri Manager or sales-focused role.
  • Proven track record in sales, with a strong bias toward new business development and customer acquisition.
  • Commercial acumen, including confidence working with margin, pricing, cost, ROI and practical decision-making.
  • Strong relationship-building, influencing and coaching skills.
  • Confidence working with data, systems, reporting and insights to improve visibility and inform decisions.
  • A self-starting, organised and delivery-focused approach, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
  • Understanding of the Waikato farming landscape and customer base would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with CRM, HubSpot and sales reporting tools would be beneficial.
  • Experience in agriculture, agribusiness, fertiliser or a related rural sector would be helpful.

Benefits

In return for your skills, we offer a very competitive package that includes an array of insurances, phone, laptop, full use company vehicle, company clothing allowance and excellent training opportunities in a supportive co-operative environment.
