Job Description

Safety Sensitive -JOB SUMMARY: The Clinic Assistant/Medical Assistant functions under the supervision and guidance of the Clinic Supervisor or Director and participates in both the clinically-related clerical functions of the clinic and provides clinical support as needed. Position requires excellent customer service skills with patients and their families, other staff, physicians, vendors, and the public.

JOB DUTIES:

  1. Obtains Prior Authorizations for all testing and procedures ordered by provider.
  2. Schedules testing and procedures.
  3. Processes and provides surgery clearance letters when surgical procedures are scheduled.
  4. Enters orders into CIS as ordered by provider.
  5. Organizes exam rooms, including general cleaning, upkeep, and re-stocking of supplies.
  6. Assists with maintaining systems to track patient follow up for test results, DME orders and deliveries or pickups.
  7. Acts as backup Medical Assistant as needed in absence of clinic nursing staff (see Medical Assistant job description).
  8. Acts as backup Clinic Assistant as needed (see Clinic Assistant job description).
  9. Demonstrates initiative and makes good decisions in situations not covered by policies.
  10. Accepts and delivers constructive criticism in a positive manner.
  11. Prioritizes and completes tasks in a timely manner.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  2. Training and Experience: Medical Assistant training/certification preferred.
  3. Job Knowledge: Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals. Familiarity with EMR systems a plus.
