Job Description

Description:

Generation Ready has proudly been a national provider of professional learning in schools around the country for over 30 years, and has maintained a market leading presence in the New York City education system. Our job-embedded approach creates meaningful partnerships in classrooms and is underpinned by instructional support that is always customized based on the needs of the districts, schools, and/or teachers that we’re working with. At the heart of every engagement is our philosophy that developing educator capacity is the most impactful tool in raising student achievement.

Our team of Education Coaches brings deep expertise and a strong track record in advancing evidence-based, high-quality literacy instruction. Generation Ready is currently seeking coaches with expertise in K–5 literacy, grounded in the Science of Reading, to join our dynamic and growing team. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience supporting foundational skills instruction (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency) alongside knowledge-building and comprehension-focused programs, and will be prepared to partner with schools across the NYC metropolitan area to strengthen Tier 1 instruction and accelerate student outcomes.

In particular, we are seeking experienced K–5 educators with demonstrated expertise in instructional practices that meet the diverse academic needs of elementary learners. Strong candidates bring experience implementing MTSS systems and structures; using universal screeners and instructional data (e.g., MAP, i-Ready, Renaissance) to inform core instruction, targeted small-group instruction, and intervention; and delivering evidence-based literacy instruction, including structured literacy, explicit phonics, and foundational skills supports. Experience designing or supporting coherent K–5 instructional programming is highly valued, as is familiarity with high-quality elementary literacy curricula, including Expeditionary Learning (EL), Wit & Wisdom, and HMH Into Reading.

Coaches are expected to work onsite in the following capacities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, including department of education, district, and school levels, to develop a customized professional learning plan based on the needs of each underlying classroom
  • Engage in side-by-side coaching, including conducting lesson modeling, to build capacity in excellent standards-based instruction
  • Lead teachers in reflective practices, data analysis, and examination of student work to improve pedagogy and develop dynamic protocols
  • Support school leaders in assessing and adapting frameworks and communication to foster a collaborative environment focused on student success
  • Foster thoughtful relationships with partners to ensure seamless communication and real-time feedback cycles to ensure all needs are being met
Requirements:

Ideal candidates will have:

  • A minimum of 10 years education experience, ideally including some combination of teaching, school leadership, coaching and/or educational program development
  • A thorough understanding of cross-content trends, shifts, standards, and methodologies
  • Experience working in urban schools and with diverse student populations
  • Expertise in various types of high-quality instructional materials, including a deep understanding of literacy programs being used in schools
  • A demonstrated ability to engage with stakeholders and develop relationships
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing personal, professional learning
  • A highly organized and process driven focus

Generation Ready is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all individuals without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristic. Our commitment to equal opportunity employment is not only a legal obligation but a cornerstone of our values as an organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for all.
