Shipping Clerk in Manassas, Virginia at Specialized Packaging Group

DESCRIPTION

This person must be a team player. The clerk will assist the Plant Manager in the daily operations of the plant to improve operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

• Manage and control shipments in a cost-effective manner for the plant.
• Utilize a forklift to load/unload goods from trucks.
• Track carriers’ performance regarding on time at SPG as well as customer.
• Collaborates and communicates with production lead, Plant Manager, customer service representatives, service providers, and others involved in the shipment of products.
• After receiving orders, schedule and perform all requirements for shipping products.
• Check shipments before release for quality and proper fulfillment.
• Collaborate with Plant Manager to resolve any issues.
• Ensure proper packaging and shipping documents are in order.
• Work in a safe and organized manner.
• Engages with vendors and drivers with a positive attitude.
• Promotes and engages in a positive and collaborative working relationship with shipping and warehouse teams.
• Any other duties determined by Plant Manager.

REQUIREMENTS

1. HS diploma.
2. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
3. Ability to work effectively and independently as a member or leader of a team.
4. Ability to operate a forklift and pass SPG certification.

REPORTING

This position reports to the Plant Manager.
