RCM’s leadership team includes operational, compliance, admissions, and residential clinical leadership roles, reflecting a growing and structured organization committed to quality care.

Position Overview

Recovery Centers of Montana is seeking an Executive Clinical Director of Outpatient Services to provide executive-level leadership, clinical oversight, and administrative direction for three outpatient facilities serving individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder needs. This leader will oversee outpatient clinical operations across programs, develop high-performing teams, and ensure services remain aligned with organizational standards for quality, compliance, and compassionate care.

This role is designed as the outpatient counterpart to residential clinical leadership and is ideal for a seasoned behavioral health professional who brings strong executive presence, sound clinical judgment, and exceptional administrative ability.

About RCM

Recovery Centers of Montana delivers substance use treatment and behavioral health services with a mission-centered approach focused on recovery, accountability, and whole-person care. The organization operates multiple treatment locations in Montana and offers outpatient services as part of its broader continuum of care.

The Executive Outpatient Clinical Director will join a leadership environment that already includes senior operational and clinical roles such as Chief Operating Officer, Chief Compliance leadership, Director of Admissions, and Residential Clinical Director. This structure creates an opportunity for a strong outpatient executive to help unify standards, strengthen staff accountability, and support continued growth across outpatient programs.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide executive and clinical oversight for all outpatient programming across three facilities serving mental health, substance use disorder, and co-occurring populations.
  • Lead clinical supervisors, therapists, counselors, case management staff, and related outpatient team members to ensure consistent service delivery, professional accountability, and strong team culture.
  • Ensure programs operate in compliance with applicable state, payer, licensing, documentation, and accreditation expectations.
  • Oversee clinical quality, utilization, census support, staff productivity, performance improvement, and program outcomes.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, workflows, and clinical standards across outpatient settings.
  • Partner with executive leadership on strategic planning, program development, staffing models, and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, training, supervision, coaching, and retention of outpatient clinical leaders and staff.
  • Monitor documentation quality, timeliness, and clinical integrity across all outpatient services.
  • Promote a culture of leadership, accountability, communication, and excellent client care.
  • Collaborate closely with residential leadership to strengthen continuity of care and alignment across the full treatment continuum.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a highly organized and mission-driven leader with deep experience in behavioral health administration, co-occurring treatment, and multi-site outpatient management. This person should be equally comfortable leading people, managing systems, solving operational problems, and maintaining high clinical standards in a fast-moving environment.

Key strengths should include:

  • Executive-level leadership presence.
  • Strong administrative and organizational ability.
  • Experience supervising clinical leaders across multiple locations.
  • Knowledge of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder treatment.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to build structure, improve accountability, and support staff development.
  • Commitment to ethical care, compliance, and clinical excellence.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active Montana clinical licensure in a behavioral health discipline is required, with a strong preference for candidates holding both mental health and Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) credentials or other co-occurring licensures.
  • Significant leadership experience in outpatient behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment is required.
  • Demonstrated experience working with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder populations strongly preferred.
  • Experience overseeing multiple programs, teams, or service locations is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical documentation, quality oversight, regulatory expectations, and program operations is required.
  • Experience with electronic health records, utilization management, and performance oversight is preferred.

Why Join RCM

The Executive Outpatient Clinical Director will play a central role in strengthening systems, leading people, and expanding access to high-quality co-occurring treatment services across outpatient settings.

Applicants who are energized by clinical leadership, operational excellence, and building strong outpatient programs are encouraged to apply.
