The Assistant Director of Off-Campus Student Services is a full-time, 12-month administrative professional leadership position reporting to the Director of Residence Life & Off-Campus Student Services, in the Division of Student Affairs. The Assistant Director is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of programs and services for off-campus students at the University of Pittsburgh; advocating for off-campus students; and supporting and enhancing strategic partnerships across the University and the Oakland community. A commitment to assessing student learning outcomes and departmental engagement is critical to the role and the success of the department. The Assistant Director collaborates with university and community partners to accomplish the goals and objectives of Off-Campus Student Services. The Assistant Director directly supervises the Property Manager Liaison, Coordinator of Graduate and Commuter Student Programs, and 1-3 graduate student workers. This role also serves as an adviser to the Off-Campus Ambassadors and supports this student-directed programming initiative. The Assistant Director will collaborate with the Office of Engagement and Community Affairs, University Police, PittServes, and Residence Life . The position has a commitment to serving the diverse needs of the university community, student development in a learning organization, active promotion of an inclusive community development, and supporting divisional programs and goals. Some evenings and weekends are required dependent on department programs and services, Division of Student Affairs programming and events, and University calendar.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in student affairs or related field preferred.
Manages a program and improves student programs, services, and retention. Performs budgetary and grant functions. Manages daily office operations and operations for select services. Markets programs and services, presents workshops, and develops policies and procedures. Facilitates new student programming.
Essential Functions
- Researches, plans, coordinates, promotes, implements, evaluates, benchmarks, and improves student programs and services.
- Develops, plans, monitors, analyzes, and administers budgets and grants.
- Develops student assessments and retention initiatives.
- Promotes and markets programs and services.
- Presents workshops and seminars.
- Conducts new student recruitment, orientation, testing, admissions, and registration services.
- Manages daily office operations and operations for select services.
Supervises staff, which includes hiring, conducting performance reviews, documenting
disciplinary actions, and overseeing other human resource administration. Manages work schedules and approves timecards. Provides professional development opportunities. Distributes and reviews work.
- Develops policies and procedures.
- Acts as a liaison and provides reporting.
Physical Effort
Moderate physical effort required. May be required to stand/move for several hours at a time. May be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment.
