Job Overview: Join our team as an Operating Room RN Manager at Boulder Surgery Center, specializing in orthopedic surgeries. The ideal candidate will plan, organize, direct, and evaluate nursing care and personnel management for the OR and Sterile Processing departments. They will manage the overall nursing care in the operating room to maintain a safe and comfortable environment. In addition, they will oversee sterile processing, ensuring a sterile environment in the operating rooms. They will assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of policies and procedures, evaluate the performance of operating room personnel, and ensure that staff receive appropriate training and continuing education.

Wage: $104,000 -$135,200.00 per year, commensurate with experience

This is a unique leadership opportunity for a hands-on Nurse Manager who enjoys balancing patient care with operational leadership. Approximately 60% of the role involves direct patient care, and 40% focuses on leadership, staff development, quality initiatives, and department operations.
What You'll DoClinical Leadership- Provide direct patient care and clinical support as needed.
- Lead the daily operations of the Operating Room to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality surgical care.
- Promote excellence in patient outcomes by ensuring compliance with clinical, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
- Ensure adherence to AORN and AAMI standards and best practices.
- Assign nursing care based on patient needs, staff competencies, and available resources.
- Oversee sterile processing, infection prevention, and patient safety initiatives.
- Meet or exceed established Operating Room efficiency and turnover goals.
- Inspire, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of Registered Nurses, Surgical Technologists, Sterile Processing Technicians, and Radiology Technologists.
- Recruit, interview, onboard, and retain exceptional clinical talent in partnership with Human Resources.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and manage employee development.
- Address performance concerns professionally through corrective action when appropriate.
- Develop and oversee orientation and competency programs for new employees.
- Foster a positive, collaborative culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Develop staffing plans and schedules that balance patient care needs with budget expectations.
- Coordinate Operating Room schedules and collaborate with surgeons regarding equipment, instrumentation, and supply needs.
- Coordinate anesthesia provider coverage.
- Monitor quality indicators, infection prevention measures, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Participate in Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities and committee work.
- Review and update departmental policies and procedures to maintain regulatory compliance.
- Manage departmental budgets, payroll corrections, and operational expenses.
- Resolve patient concerns and complaints with professionalism and compassion.
- Build strong relationships with physicians, clinical staff, and leadership.
- Maintain clear and effective communication across departments.
- Support the mission, vision, and values of the surgery center while promoting exceptional patient experiences.
- Current Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of 5 years of Operating Room nursing experience.
- At least 3 years of progressive leadership or management experience.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing practices, aseptic technique, and surgical technology.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with electronic health records and basic computer applications.
- Experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC).
- Orthopedic surgery experience.
- Knowledge of AAAHC and/or Joint Commission accreditation standards.
- Surgical scrub experience.
- CNOR certification.
- Lead an experienced and collaborative surgical team.
- Partner with highly skilled orthopedic surgeons in a fast-paced ambulatory surgery environment.

This position is primarily based within the surgery center and includes both clinical and administrative responsibilities. The role requires occasional exposure to infectious diseases and other healthcare-related conditions. Occasional evening or weekend responsibilities may be necessary to support operational needs.
