Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Trauma Performance Improvement (PI) Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) program to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care for injured patients. Working collaboratively with the Trauma Medical Director, Trauma Program Manager, physicians, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams, this position identifies opportunities for improvement, monitors outcomes, and supports compliance with the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient (2022) standards and the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services (NCOEMS) trauma designation requirements. The coordinator serves as a key resource in advancing patient safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement across the trauma continuum of care.
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Required:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN required. Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required by department leadership.
- Required completion of all mandatory education as determined by UNC Health Southeastern and department leadership.
Preferred:
- Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN), Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN).
- Critical Care experience.
ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Current RN license to practice in the state of North Carolina. · TNCC Certification required on hire, or within first 6 months. · Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required. Must maintain current certification and professional license as required for job function. Required completion of all mandatory education as determined by UNC Southeastern and departmental leadership
