Who We Are
For more than 30 years, the Virginia Beach SPCA Low-Cost Veterinary Clinic (VBSPCA Veterinary Clinic) has been helping pets and the people who love them by providing accessible, affordable veterinary care to the Virginia Beach and Hampton Roads communities. From routine wellness and preventive care to spay/neuter services, dental procedures, surgery, and treatment for illness, our dedicated team of veterinary professionals is committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care to every patient and client who walks through our doors.

Why You’ll Enjoy Working With Us
Make a Meaningful Impact

Every day brings an opportunity to make a difference. Whether you’re helping a client schedule preventive care, supporting a pet through an illness, or simply making someone feel welcomed and heard, your work directly impacts the lives of companion animals and the people who love them.

Be Part of a Collaborative Team
You’ll work alongside a team of dedicated veterinary professionals who share your passion for animals and their well-being. We believe in supporting one another, sharing knowledge, and creating an environment where everyone can contribute and grow.

Work in a State-of-the-Art Facility
Our newly renovated veterinary clinic is equipped with modern technology and resources to help our team provide exceptional patient care. Our facility includes digital radiography (general and dental), ultrasound, in-house laboratory equipment, surgical capabilities, and laser therapy. We also utilize a cloud-based veterinary database and digital phone system, providing convenient access to patient and client information.

What You’ll Do
As a Level I Veterinary Assistant, you’ll play an important role in connecting our veterinary team with the clients and animals we serve. You’ll help ensure that each patient receives compassionate care and that each client feels heard, welcomed, and supported. Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting with the care and treatment of public and shelter animals during medical and surgical appointments
  • Obtaining patient medical histories and maintaining accurate client records
  • Processing and filling medications
  • Processing radiographs
  • Assisting with medical care and preparing patients for scheduled surgical procedures
  • Answering client questions and helping address concerns with patience and compassion
  • Keeping examination and surgical areas clean, organized, and professional
  • Promoting the humane care and treatment of animals at all times
  • Providing exceptional customer service and helping create a positive experience for every client and patient
  • Supporting clinic operations in our main facility, on our mobile veterinary unit - the Neuter Scooter, and/or at our Wellness Clinic

What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is compassionate, dependable, organized, and genuinely enjoys helping both people and animals. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Customer service experience; experience in a medical or veterinary setting is preferred
  • The ability to work collaboratively with people of different backgrounds, personalities, and communication styles
  • Strong multitasking, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in an active environment
  • A willingness and enthusiasm to learn, gain experience, and expand their knowledge
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Patience, empathy, and ability to navigate difficult conversations

What We Offer
We believe in taking care of our team, too! Our comprehensive benefits package includes:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid Time Off
  • Eight paid holidays
  • Veterinary care discounts for your furry family members
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for additional support
  • Adoption discounts when you’re ready to add another member to your pack

Ready to Make a Difference?
If you’re looking for more than just a job and want to be part of a team that makes a real difference for pets, their families, and our community, we encourage you to apply!

We’re looking forward to welcoming our next team member to the VBSPCA Veterinary Clinic.
