Job Description

Technical Product Manager Storage

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Technical Product Manager – Storage based in Ireland.

As a Technical Product Manager – Storage, you will define and drive the vision, strategy, and roadmap for large-scale cloud storage services powering advanced AI and high-performance computing workloads. You will work at the intersection of engineering, architecture, and product strategy, translating deeply technical system behavior into clear priorities and deliverables. This role requires strong expertise in storage systems and distributed infrastructure, along with the ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and go-to-market teams. You will play a key role in shaping storage capabilities that support demanding AI/ML pipelines, ensuring performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency at hyperscale. This is a highly technical, hands-on leadership role with direct impact on next-generation cloud infrastructure.

Accountabilities
  • Own and manage the product roadmap and backlog for cloud storage services, including block, file, parallel file systems, and object storage.
  • Define and drive storage system initiatives across durability, performance, scalability, availability, and cost optimization.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and architecture teams to design and evolve storage systems, including data paths, consistency models, replication, and erasure coding strategies.
  • Make and defend technical trade-offs across latency, throughput, IOPS, durability, and cost using quantitative analysis and performance data.
  • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives involving engineering, support, product, and go-to-market teams related to storage capabilities and enhancements.
  • Support product positioning, technical documentation, and customer-facing engagements in collaboration with marketing and pre-sales teams.
  • Ensure delivery of high-performance storage services supporting AI/ML training, inference workloads, and HPC environments.
  • Lead alignment across stakeholders to ensure storage solutions meet enterprise-grade reliability, scalability, and efficiency requirements.
Requirements
  • Extensive hands-on experience building or operating cloud storage systems in senior engineering, architecture, or technical leadership roles at hyperscalers, cloud providers, or storage technology companies.
  • Deep understanding of storage system internals, including block, file, and object storage architectures, distributed storage systems, replication, erasure coding, and consistency models.
  • Strong familiarity with technologies such as NVMe, NVMe-oF, iSCSI, POSIX, Lustre, GPFS/Spectrum Scale, BeeGFS, Ceph, S3-compatible storage, and RDMA-based data paths.
  • Ability to analyze and optimize performance metrics such as IOPS, throughput, latency (including tail latency), and cost per TB, with experience interpreting system benchmarks.
  • Strong expertise in at least two areas such as block storage and virtualization, distributed storage systems, HPC file systems, storage performance engineering, or large-scale object storage.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional technical initiatives in distributed engineering environments.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working across engineering and leadership teams.
  • Experience with storage systems for AI/ML workloads or HPC environments is highly desirable.
  • Product management experience is not required, but strong technical leadership and willingness to grow into product ownership is essential.
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation package aligned with experience and expertise.
  • Opportunities for career growth and continuous technical learning.
  • Flexible working arrangements with high autonomy and ownership.
  • Exposure to cutting-edge AI infrastructure and hyperscale cloud systems.
  • Collaborative, international environment with highly skilled engineering teams.
  • Opportunity to work on impactful AI and high-performance computing infrastructure projects.
  • Strong focus on innovation, technical excellence, and long-term career development.
