Job Description
Machine Operator

This person is responsible to set up ice cream fillers for the day, run the necessary plumbing to get ice cream from the freezer to the filler. They should insure that the parts they are using have been properly cleaned prior to use. They also may have to put together fruit feeders, spinners and revel pumps to put inclusions in the ice cream. They may have to pump a blender to conserve mix during startup and if there are problems during a run. After the machine is set up, they must use the CIP system to do a sanitizing flush prior to use and perform ATP testing as required by Preventative Controls. They must adjust the overwrap to fit the production being run.

The Machine Operator person is then responsible to fill the freezer with mix and start the freezing process. Once the ice cream has attained the proper viscosity and overrun, they start filling the necessary cartons. As cartons fill, they must watch for proper fill and product consistency. They also need to insure that the proper code is printed on the carton.

The Machine Operator person needs to know how to incorporate the right amount of inclusions in the ice cream: they must know how to set a fruit feeder and revel pump to place the inclusions in the ice cream.

If there should be a product change, they must insure the proper cartons are used. At various times, the freezer and filler need to be flushed out (to change flavor, rinse out allergens, etc). They must be able to use the CIP system and be able to rinse out the blender on these flushes. They need to be sure that all equipment is clean after a flush, prior to starting the next production. They will be responsible for filling out all information on weight sheets including weights, product we are running and lot numbers, insure packaging is correct for ingredients & allergens.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor will be required.
Normal hours are 45 hours a week 2:30 PM - Finish. Overtime may occur during months of high product demand and are usually scheduled in advance.
