Mechanical Detailer


Position Type: Full-time, Exempt, Salary

Reports to: Mechanical Engineering Manager

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Location: Jacksonville, FL

Summary Objective

The Mechanical Detailer plays a crucial role in the preparation of technical installation document packages for the design and fabrication of various modular plants in Stellar Energy’s Manufacturing Facilities. This position involves collaborating closely with the Mechanical Design Team to create detailed Iso-metric piping drawings, full piping bill of materials, nested cutting list, and other detailed equipment installation drawings to be used on the fabrication floor. The Mechanical Detailer will translate mechanical design concepts into detailed fabrication requirements, ensuring seamless execution from design inception through manufacturing.

Essential Functions

  • Generate detailed shop drawings and model views from engineering 3D design models to convey fabrication requirements of specific systems. These systems may include piping systems, chillers, heat exchangers, or pump systems.
  • Review project specifications to ensure alignment with fabrication objectives.
  • Participate in product development and improvement initiatives to enhance fabrication processes.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Designers to gain a thorough understanding of the design intent.
  • Participate in project team meetings and activities related to project execution.
  • Collaborate with fabrication team during the system building process.
  • Review design documents to assure constructability and equipment specification to meet fabrication objectives.
  • Coordinate with mechanical designers to create piping iso-gens used for fabrication.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Location

This position will work out of our facilities in Jacksonville, FL. This position is not approved for telecommuting or working remotely.

Work Environment
Most Work is performed at a manufacturing facility, regular use of Personal Protective Equipment, such as safety glasses, steel toe boots, and mandatory head protection is necessary. Often trips to headquarters may be necessary for coordination and collaboration.


Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Travel
Anticipated 10% travel for this position with some overnight stays. Some occasional local day travel may also be necessary.

Required Education and Experience.

  • 2 years of experience with industrial systems fabrication
  • Experience in power plant, large HVAC design, or similar project work experience
  • Knowledge of 3D software (AutoCAD, Bentley AutoPlant, Prosteel, Advance Steel, etc)
  • Good understanding of design documents
  • Knowledge of pressure piping and structural steel codes of construction

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Two-year associate degree in drafting or related technical discipline
  • Formal training or education in system design or engineering
  • Familiar with design and operation of general mechanical equipment including pumps, chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, etc.

Work Authorization
Must be authorized to work in the USA.
