Beehive Industries is dedicated to Powering American Defense by revolutionizing the design, development, and delivery of jet propulsion systems to support the warfighter. Beehive is committed to grow and advance the defense industrial base while manufacturing exclusively in the USA. This role will be located at our Loveland, Ohio facility.


Role Overview

The CAD Designer is responsible for creating and maintaining 3D CAD models, detailed engineering drawings, tooling designs, and manufacturing documentation supporting advanced manufacturing processes including additive manufacturing, investment casting, and aerospace component development. This role will work closely with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and customers to develop producible designs while supporting rapid new product introduction (NPI) activities.

What You'll Do...

  • Develop detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using industry-standard CAD software.
  • Design castings, tooling, fixtures, molds, and manufacturing aids for aerospace and industrial applications.
  • Generate and maintain engineering documentation, including BOMs, drawings, and revision-controlled design packages.
  • Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM), and Design for Casting reviews.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and process engineering teams to optimize designs for production.
  • Assist in translating customer requirements, specifications, and models into manufacturable solutions.
  • Support prototype development, testing, and production launch activities.
  • Create and maintain CAD libraries, templates, and design standards.
  • Work with simulation, metrology, and quality teams to incorporate inspection and validation requirements into designs.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support multiple NPI programs in a fast-paced development environment.

You have...

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering technology, Mechanical Design, Drafting, or related technical field.
  • 3+ years of CAD design experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as:
    • SolidWorks
    • NX
  • Experience creating detailed manufacturing drawings compliant with GD&T standards.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME Y14.5.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design fundamentals.
  • Ability to interpret engineering specifications and customer requirements.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have...

  • Passion to be the great in 3d modeling for complex shapes and assemblies.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, additive manufacturing, or investment casting industries.
  • Experience designing:
    • Investment casting tooling
    • Ceramic molds and cores
    • Additive manufacturing fixtures
    • Furnace tooling and automation equipment
  • Familiarity with:
    • DFAM principles
    • Investment casting processes
    • Metal additive manufacturing
    • Scan-to-CAD workflows
    • PLM/PDM systems
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) or casting simulation software is a plus.
  • nTopology software workflow familiarity or passion is a strong plus.
  • Other software: Rhino, Fusion360, Magics, etc is a plus.
