Job Description

Position Summary

The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations, supervising accounting staff, and ensuring accurate and timely completion of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes. This role requires a strong leader who can effectively manage and motivate team members with diverse personalities and work styles while maintaining a collaborative, high-performance environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, ethical, and possesses excellent communication skills to partner with management and support organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff to ensure high levels of performance and professional growth.
  • Effectively lead and manage employees with diverse personalities, backgrounds, and experience levels.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and collaborative work environment.
  • Delegate responsibilities appropriately while maintaining oversight of critical accounting functions.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and address employee concerns professionally.

Full-Cycle Accounting & Financial Close

  • Manage and participate in the full-cycle accounting process, including:
    • General Ledger maintenance
    • Journal entry preparation and review
    • Account reconciliations
    • Accruals and prepaids
    • Fixed asset accounting
    • Revenue and expense recognition
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Review financial statements and supporting schedules for completeness and accuracy.
  • Analyze financial results and investigate variances.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare and review financial reports to submit to Director of Accounting.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
  • Assist with external audits and provide requested documentation.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.

Communication & Business Partnership

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with Director of Accounting and senior management regarding financial results, issues, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with departments to resolve accounting-related matters.
  • Present accounting information in a manner understandable to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience in a Management Services Organization (MSO).
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong full-cycle accounting and financial close experience.
  • 2+ years of experience supervising or leading accounting teams.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems specifically Sage Intacct and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on leader who combines solid technical accounting expertise with strong people management skills
  • Proven experience leading teams with diverse personalities, managing the complete financial close process, maintaining exceptional attention to detail, demonstrating a strong work ethic and reliability, and effectively communicating financial information and recommendations to management.
