At Salem Transitional Care, our Culinary team plays an important role in creating a positive dining experience for our residents. We are looking for a dependable, team-oriented PRN Cook who takes pride in preparing delicious, nutritious meals while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality.

What You'll Do• Prepare delicious, high quality meals for residents, employees, and special events
• Follow planned menus, standardized recipes, and therapeutic diet requirements
• Prepare alternative menu items to meet residents' dietary needs and food preferences
• Ensure food is prepared, portioned, and served safely using proper food handling and sanitation practices
• Maintain appropriate food temperatures during preparation and service
• Label, date, and properly store food according to food safety guidelines
• Help ensure meals and snacks are delivered accurately and on schedule
• Monitor and record food, refrigerator, and freezer temperatures
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen throughout each shift
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and report equipment concerns promptly
• Assist with receiving and storing food and kitchen supplies
• Help minimize food waste by using supplies efficiently and following portion guidelines
• Work closely with the Culinary Director and fellow team members to provide exceptional dining experiences
• Interact professionally and compassionately with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers
• Follow all federal, state, facility, and company food safety regulations and standards
• Passion for preparing quality food and serving others
• Knowledge of safe food preparation, sanitation, and food handling practices
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and therapeutic diet guidelines
• Ability to stay organized and work efficiently in a fast paced kitchen
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to lift, bend, stand, and remain active throughout the shift
• Ability to perform basic math and follow written and verbal instructions
• Flexibility to work an as-needed (PRN) schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Licenses/Certifications• Food Handler's Permit (if required by Oregon regulations)
Experience• Six months of experience in large quantity food preparation preferred
• Experience preparing therapeutic diets preferred
• Experience in long term care, skilled nursing, or senior living preferred but not required
Applicants must be at least 18 years old to operate commercial kitchen equipment. All employees of Cascadia Healthcare are required to complete and clear all state specific background check requirements prior to contact with residents/patients.
