Position: Assistant Coach
Purpose of the Position/Job Summary:
As a vital part of the SLO Classical Academy team, an assistant coach is responsible for helping to develop and maintain their designated athletics program in line with SLOCA’s athletic mission statement. He or she must ensure that the team maintains safety standards in relation to staff, students, and spectators.

Seasonal jobs that vary based on the sport being coached.
Education and experience:
- Demonstrated successful coaching for the specific sport for which applying.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the fundamental skills and techniques, as well as the advanced techniques needed for competitive athletes.
- Demonstrated personality and character traits appropriate to educational leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a disciplined program.
- Demonstrated management and organizational skills.
- High school varsity level, college playing and/or coaching experience required in the specific sport for which applying.
- CPR Training and First Aid Certification.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Reports to the Head Coach, Athletic Director (AD), and the High School Director.
- Interacts with the Head Coach regarding student discipline issues.
- Interacts with other coaches, teachers, and school staff.
- Represents SLOCA within the CIF SS and the Coast Valley League.
- Recruits, manages, and mentors assistant coaches to ensure high-quality programs.
- Is familiar with and adheres to all rules and regulations as set out by CIF and NFHS for the sport being coached..
- Provide a solid development plan for team and players; set and manage improvement milestones.
- Work with the head coach to solidify game schedule - add scrimmages, non-league games as appropriate, finalize league schedule.
- Perform services in a manner that complies with the SLO Classical Academy Professional Code of Conduct and CIF Code of Ethics.
- Intervene with misconduct issues (Code of Conduct-Athlete), and follow up with the head coach and AD as required.
- Ensure proper supervision during practices and games to help protect students from injury or diminish the risk of student injury.
- Promote a physically, emotionally, and socially secure climate for students, assistant coaches, and visitors.
- Maintain CIF game and player stats in the appropriate platforms (maxprep, etc.).
- Support athletics fundraising as required; participate in Student Spirit events as feasible
Physical Demands:*
Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Able to stand for an extended period of time regularly and participate in athletic activities as needed.

The pay range for this role is:
2,000 - 2,000 USD per year(Upper School Campus)
