Med Surg/Tele Supervisor FT

The Med Surg/Tele Supervisor in collaboration with the Director of Critical Care ensures operational efficiency, patient throughput, and the patient experience by supporting clinical and non-clinical team members, both within the department and across the organization. They activate patient care and evidence-based practice. Provides a safe and therapeutic environment and will be clinically oriented to work in Med Surg/Tele as a staff RN to assist when the team needs exceed the resources. The supervisor communicates and collaborates with a variety of staff members including nursing leadership, medical staff, ancillary personnel, case management, social work, and other departments to provide patient-centered care. This position requires a detailed knowledge base in Med Surg/Tele workflows as well as an understanding of their impact on the flow of both patients and work throughout the department, hospital, and organization. The Med Surg/Tele Supervisor will be expected to be knowledgeable and able to perform the duties of the staff.

The incumbent will carry-out duties by adhering to the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct, acts in the best interest of Three Crosses Regional Hospital, and fully supports the mission, vision, and values of Three Crosses Regional Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the knowledge expert and information source for staff.
  • Works collaboratively with physicians to ensure that quality and competent care is rendered in all phases of patient care within the units.
  • Works with team to ensure that service patients are cared for at the highest level throughout the continuum.
  • Responsible for customer satisfaction initiatives within the areas of responsibility.
  • Implement alternative staffing patterns as the need arises to coordinate a 24/7 staff schedule.
  • Develop and enforce Med Surge Department and organizational policies and procedures, monitoring the accuracy of data entered by staff, ensuring patient throughput and flow, and managing the overall training of the Med Surg team.
  • Serve on call for off hours staffing issues, escalations, and staff questions.
  • Facilitates departmental organization and management to achieve optimal patient appropriate resources.
  • Ensures that the department supplies are current, and the environment of care meets the standards for safe patient care.
  • Manages conflicts and completes priorities during the shift.
  • Provides compassion to the patient and the patient’s family members.
  • Responsible for compliance with overall nursing practice standards and adheres to the established values of Three Crosses Regional Hospital, ie. Customer services, safety, compliance standards and all others.
  • Attends staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Required: Associate degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
  • Required: 2 years of experience of nursing in an acute health care environment.
  • Preferred:1 year of nursing leadership experience in an acute health care environment.
  • Required: Meet all Employee Health Requirement

License/Certification(s)

  • Required: Current Registered Nursing License to practice in the State of NM
  • Required: AHA BLS Certification
  • Required: AHA ACLS Certification
