Parts Shipping & Receiving in Hoover, Alabama at Mercedes-Benz of Birmingham - Hoover Campus

PURPOSE:

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for performing a variety of shipping and receiving tasks; ensuring that all packages are processed in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Verifies and keeps records of incoming and outgoing shipments.
• Prepares items for shipment, including packaging, weighing, measuring, labeling, bill of lading, outgoing packages.
• Checks packages being shipped against work orders/invoices to verify accuracy of shipments.
• Receives and unloads incoming shipments, comparing packing slip to contents of shipment verifying accuracy of shipments.
• Sorts, counts, packages, labels, unpacks, and logs inventory receiving or shipped.
• Inspects shipments for damages or defects, records discrepancies or damages and notifies the Parts Director.
• Assists in maintaining the parts database.
• Operates a dolly, pallet jack, and forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment; may operate other machines related to the function of the job and assigned duties.
• Attend training classes as directed by management.
• Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
• Will regularly handle, lift, and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
• Will stand, walk, and/or sit for more than four (4) hours per day
• Participate in all training programs as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience that is related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
• Must be OSHA certified as a forklift operator.
• Must be a team player with impeccable honesty and integrity.
• Maintain a high level of professional personal appearance and conduct.

• Must have a valid driver’s license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record
