Function of Position:
The Software Technology Assistance Center (STAC), located in the Brighton Library, supports Monroe Community College students and employees with software technology instruction and skill development. Part-time professionals provide direct assistance to users of the center and help support the day-to-day operation of STAC, including working with STAC student workers (aka STACers).
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assists in the operations of the Library Learning Commons Software Technology Assistance Center (STAC).
- Provides one-on-one software technology assistance to students and employees visiting STAC.
- Uses outstanding customer service skills to provide a welcoming, supportive, and accepting experience for students and staff visiting STAC.
- Assists users with classroom- and work-related software, web-based systems, and other software used for teaching, learning, and college work.
- Helps users develop practical technology skills by explaining processes, demonstrating software tools, and guiding them through tasks rather than simply completing the work for them.
- Troubleshoots common software and general technology problems and helps users identify appropriate solutions or directs them to the Student Technology Help Desk.
- Assists with software installation, configuration, and general application troubleshooting on supported devices when appropriate.
- Supports students and employees with common digital tasks and workflows related to their coursework and college work.
- Maintains a welcoming, patient, and professional environment for users with a wide range of technology skill levels.
- Works collaboratively with STAC and Learning Resources staff, referring issues when additional expertise or access is required.
- Other duties as assigned by Learning Resources/STAC Coordinator

Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- High School graduate
- Ability to work effectively with students and employees in a busy, service-oriented environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to quickly learn, troubleshoot, and explain software technology
- Dependable, patient, and comfortable assisting users with a wide range of technology skill levels
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual
Additional Information:
Salary: $17 an hour
Schedule: 12 hours per week; Monday, 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm; Wednesday, 9:30 am to 1:30 pm; Thursday, 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

This position involves primarily sedentary work, including prolonged periods of computer use and keyboarding. The role requires the ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form. The position may involve occasionally lifting or moving items up to 10 pounds. Work is performed in a typical office environment with no adverse conditions. Occasional travel between campus buildings or to other local or out-of-town locations for meetings or conferences may be required.
