About the Role:

The Assistant Coach Track plays a vital role in supporting the head coach to develop and enhance the athletic performance of student-athletes in track and field events. This position focuses on fostering a positive and inclusive environment that encourages personal growth, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The assistant coach will contribute to planning and executing training programs tailored to improve speed, endurance, technique, and overall fitness. Additionally, the role involves mentoring athletes to balance their academic and athletic commitments effectively. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in physical education, sports science, or a related field.
  • Experience coaching track and field at the high school or collegiate level.
  • Strong knowledge of track and field techniques, training methods, and competition rules.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, and staff.
  • Certification in first aid and CPR.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as an assistant or head coach in an educational setting.
  • Certification from a recognized coaching organization (e.g., USATF Level 1 or higher).
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and promoting inclusivity.
  • Knowledge of sports nutrition and injury prevention strategies.
  • Familiarity with performance analysis tools and technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in designing and implementing comprehensive training sessions for various track and field disciplines.
  • Provide individualized coaching and feedback to athletes to improve their skills and performance.
  • Support the head coach in organizing practices, meets, and travel logistics.
  • Monitor athlete progress and maintain accurate records of performance and attendance.
  • Promote a safe and supportive environment that encourages athlete well-being and academic success.
  • Collaborate with other coaching staff and school personnel to ensure compliance with institutional and athletic regulations.
  • Participate in recruitment efforts and community outreach to attract prospective student-athletes.
