JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director, Manager of Radiology and the Medical Director, the technologist is responsible for performing mammography procedures, the care and safety of patient's mammography procedures; and the use of mammographic equipment.

DEPT. SCOPE OF SERVICE:

The Department of Radiology at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital is a consultative service that will provide services in the following categories: diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, computed tomography, interventional radiography, MRI, bone density and mammography. The department offers services 24 hours a day, seven days a week to inpatients, outpatients and emergency room patients of all ages. Whereas x-ray procedures constitute the majority of our service, we also provide related quality control (including protecting patients and staff from harmful radiation), quality assurance monitoring and evaluation, marketing and continuing education of staff and patients. Radiology is comprises of licensed technologists, certified and licensed nuclear medicine technologists, secretarial staff and licensed radiologists. We render reports of all of our imaging studies to referring physicians within 24 to 36 hours of completion of the exam.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Formal AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology required.

Experience: Previous experience in all areas of Radiologic technology, in a hospital setting.

Licensure/Certification: Mammography & QA Certification

Certified in CPR

Certified by the ARRT required, except those technologists credentialed through state certification which the State of Vermont Board of Radiologic Technology delegates approval power by rule and hired prior to January 1, 2000.

Licensed by the State of Vermont

Mental Efforts:

Ability to transport patients as needed.

Ability to work within a limited space and in bright and low lighted rooms such as the darkroom.

Ability to write and file for extended periods of time.

Moderate number of lifting patients and equipment such as cassettes.

Mobility requirements may include the ability to squat, stand and/or walk for a reasonable length of time.

Must be able to perform tasks with require moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such a data entry, copying and developing films.

Environment & Working Conditions Potential for exposure to electrical and radiation hazards, electromagnetic radiation as in CRT’s.

Potential for exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.

Compensation Disclosure in Accordance with Vermont Act 155

In compliance with Vermont Act 155, Brattleboro Memorial Hospital provides the compensation range for this position in good faith. The listed range represents the pay scale reasonably expected for a successful candidate based on factors such as relevant experience, education, internal equity, and market competitiveness. Final compensation will be determined during the hiring process.
