Job Description

The RMP Promise

Rocky Mountain Prep is a movement of educators, families, scholars, and advocates committed to changing public education in Colorado by democratizing college access for historically marginalized students and families. We operate twelve college-preparatory schools serving students from early childhood through twelfth grade, and we are fundamentally a world-class learning organization that invests deeply in every educator who joins us. Teachers engage in ongoing coaching and professional development, supported by clear expectations, transparent feedback, and opportunities to strengthen their craft and advance along individualized career pathways grounded in our PEAK values. Rooted in a culture of rigor and love, RMP promises to coach, develop, and champion every team member so they can do their best work and grow as professionals, people, and leaders.

About the Role

The Manager, Governance and Strategic Operations is the operational engine behind RMP’s Board of Directors and the network’s highest-visibility executive and cross-functional moments. This role owns the creation of Board meeting materials and the logistics that make Board, executive team, and network-wide events run flawlessly — from a committee meeting packet to Senior Signing Day. Reporting to the Managing Director, Strategic Projects & Operations, with a dotted line to the Chief of Strategy & Org Effectiveness for Board-specific work, this person is the reliable, detail-obsessed partner who makes sure materials are accurate and on time, logistics are handled with precision, and nothing that touches RMP’s Board or senior leadership falls through the cracks. This role requires exceptional discretion — Board and executive materials are often confidential and time-sensitive — paired with the warmth and professionalism to represent RMP well with Board members, external partners, and every team across the network.

The Manager, Governance and Strategic Operations also plays a key role in ensuring all of RMP’s signature network events are executed with excellence, joy and strategic impact. This role requires exceptional attention to detail and follow through.

This is a Denver-based role with regular attendance at Board meetings, committee meetings, and major network events, including some evenings.

The Manager of Governance and Strategic Operations at Rocky Mountain Prep supports with…

Board & Governance Operations

  • Provide logistical support for all Board and Committee meetings, including scheduling, agenda coordination, minutes, and follow-up on action items.
  • Support the onboarding and required trainings of any new Board Members.
  • Own the preparation, distribution, and archiving of all Board meeting materials, including agendas, packets, minutes, and resolutions, ensuring materials go out with enough lead time for Directors to prepare, including tracking applicable bylaw deadlines.
  • Own taking minutes during each board meeting and drafting minutes for legal to review afterwards.
  • Build Board- and committee-facing materials in partnership with the Managing Director, Strategic Analytics & Reporting and Managing Director, Strategic Projects & Operations, ensuring data and narrative are accurate, current, and presented at the right altitude for a governance audience.
  • Partner with the Compliance team to ensure Board meetings and materials are fully compliant with bylaws, open meeting laws, and governance standards.
  • Partner with Chief of Strategy & Org Effectiveness to ensure Board Member onboarding and required trainings are fully compliant.
  • Partner with Chief of Strategy & Org Effectiveness to set board meeting calendar, including all meetings, off sites and committee meetings.
  • Partner with Chief of Strategy & Org Effectiveness to track bylaw deadlines (e.g., annual filings, elections of officers)
  • Support equitable participation in governance by ensuring Board Directors and attendees have accessible materials and reasonable timeframes to prepare, partnering with the Manager, Language Support & Services when translation or interpretation is needed.
  • Maintain the Board’s institutional records and archive, serving as the reliable source of truth for past agendas, minutes, and resolutions.

Executive & Network Event Logistics

  • Manage on-the-ground logistics for major executive-team and Board-adjacent moments, including offsites, retreats, and committee convenings.
  • Partner with the Manager, Events & NST Logistics to execute RMP’s signature network events, including Senior Signing Day, the Back to School Bash, and NST holiday celebrations, providing surge support during peak event seasons.
  • Support logistics for other cross-functional projects led by the Strategic
  • Projects & Operations team as capacity allows.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Discretion

  • Handle confidential Board and executive information with the highest level of discretion at all times.
  • Serve as a dependable point of contact for Board members and external partners engaging with RMP’s governance processes.
  • Escalate access gaps, compliance risks, or capacity concerns to the Managing Director, Strategic Projects & Operations and the Chief of Strategy & Org Effectiveness, with clear recommendations for resolution.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience with logistics, project coordination, or executive/administrative support in a fast-paced, detail-intensive environment.
  • Exceptional organization and follow-through; comfortable owning multiple concurrent deadlines without dropping details.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to produce clean, accurate meeting materials and correspondence.
  • Unwavering discretion with confidential and sensitive information.
  • A warm, professional presence with external stakeholders, including Board members, donors, and community partners.
  • Ability to work some evenings for Board and Committee meetings and major network events.
  • Comfortable working independently on defined processes while escalating judgment calls appropriately.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting a Board of Directors or governance function, including meeting logistics, minutes, or compliance coordination.
  • Experience planning or executing large-scale events.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit or charter school governance structures.
  • Experience in a charter school network or multi-site educational organization.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Years of experience (total overall years of experience and years of directly relevant experience required):
  • 3-5 years of experience in project coordination, executive support, governance/board operations, or event logistics.
  • We use E-Verify to confirm the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires.
