Medical Assistant Apprentice - Full-Time, Days

The Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program is a learn while you earn pathway designed to help individuals launch a meaningful career in healthcare. This paid program blends structured classroom education with hands-on clinical training, preparing participants to sit for the national certification exam and transition into full-time Medical Assistant roles with Texas Health Physicians Group.

The program begins with 11 weeks of onsite classroom instruction, followed by 5 - 8 weeks of hands-on training in a designated training clinic. Upon successful completion, placement opportunities may be available in Plano, Allen, Denton, Dallas, and surrounding communities.

Selected candidates will be required to sign a Commit to Work Agreement confirming an 18-month employment commitment with Texas Health Physicians Group (THPG) upon hire.

Program Start Date: September 21, 2026

Training Location: 6300 West Parker Road, Plano, TX 75093

Work hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Here's What You Need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required within 90 days of hire

A successful Medical Assistant Apprentice will:
  • Possess organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment
  • Have positive interpersonal skills
  • Have good verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess basic computer and keyboard skills
  • Have a commitment to professional development, growth, and learning
  • Be customer service oriented

What You Will Do
  • Learn and perform essential Medical Assistant clinical skills, such as:
    • Taking patient vital signs
    • Assisting providers with exams and procedures
    • Administering injections or medications
    • Performing EKGs, phlebotomy, and laboratory procedures
    • Updating electronic medical records
  • Provide basic patient care while adhering to safety standards, patient rights, and organizational policies
  • Participate fully in both classroom and clinical training, including attending scheduled sessions and completing all required coursework
  • Work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team
  • Prepare for and sit for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam
  • Successfully pass Clinical Training skills assessment
