Position Title: Field Service Technical Manager (Power Transformers)

Location: Augusta, Georgia

Description: HTI is recruiting a Field Service Technical Manager for an international power transformer manufacturing company at their plant in the Augusta, GA area. This role will lead the plant’s Service and After Sales Department and a team of Field Service Technicians. This company offers great benefits and opportunities for growth!

Salary range: Approximately $110,000 - $135,000 / year, depending on experience and education
Location: Waynesboro, GA - Relocation allowance is available
Working hours: Typically Mon-Fri from 7:00am-3:30pm
Status: Onsite, full-time, direct hire position

Summary:
The Technical Service Manager will oversee power transformer maintenance and installation projects for the plant’s customers. This role will manage customer projects from inception to completion while leading a team of Field Service Technicians to support the installation, maintenance, and testing of new power transformers. Will serve as the primary technical liaison between the production facility and the customer. Must have the ability to work independently and as a team to effectively support the Service and After Sales process.

This company manufactures large power transformers for power generation, commercial buildings and industrial/manufacturing applications. Products include cast resin distribution transformers and medium and low-voltage VPI transformers.

Requirements:
  • MUST have prior maintenance and installation experience with large power transformers.
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar technical, engineering, or Field Service/maintenance leadership role with a power transformer manufacturing company or related industry.
  • College degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline is preferred.
  • Recent experience managing Field Service Technicians, customer communication, and customer maintenance/ projects.
  • Deep understanding of high-voltage (HV) equipment, power transformer assembly, and transformer diagnostic testing standards.
  • Experience with IEEE, ANSI, IEC, and NETA testing standards.
  • Experience reading electrical schematics and transformer drawings.
  • Excellent project management, leadership, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and good organization skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion.
  • Ability to manage workload, properly prioritizing objectives to reliably meet deadlines.
  • Able to work outside of normal business hours on occasion/when needed.
  • Must be self-motivated and self-directed, with strong teamwork skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

Job Duties:
  • Oversee and lead a team of Field Service Technicians who will assist customers with maintenance and installation of power transformers within the U.S.
  • Cultivate and maintain customer relationships. Conduct communication with customers via email and over the phone in a highly customer service-oriented manner.
  • Provide and lead the coordination of technical assistance and troubleshooting for field service issues, including travel to customer locations if a Field Service Technician is not available.
  • Develop detailed project plans and communication strategies to align customers and internal team members.
  • Oversee the coordination and scheduling of services with customers, external resources, and internal teams to meet project timelines and quality standards and ensure efficient resource use.
  • Track inventory of maintenance tools and equipment, and coordinate with purchasing and logistics when additional materials are needed for customer projects.
  • Monitor labor, material costs, and productivity to maintain control
  • Produce accurate project budgets and forecasts of costs and revenue.
  • Adhere to plant safety requirements and plant policies. Promote a positive safety culture, leading by example.
