Job Description
Position Summary
The Room Attendant plays a vital role in creating an exceptional guest experience by ensuring guest rooms and public areas are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Working closely with the Executive Housekeeper and Housekeeping team, this position upholds Dakota Dunes Resort's standards of cleanliness, safety, and hospitality while responding to guest needs in a professional and timely manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean, sanitize, and prepare guest rooms, bathrooms, public areas, and corridors to established hotel standards.
- Complete room assignments efficiently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and attention to detail.
- Perform evening service (turndown service) as scheduled.
- Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests, ensuring exceptional customer service and guest satisfaction.
- Inspect rooms to ensure furniture, fixtures, linens, amenities, and equipment are properly placed and in excellent condition.
- Report maintenance deficiencies, safety hazards, and repair needs promptly to the appropriate department.
- Maintain housekeeping carts, equipment, and storage areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Safely use, store, and handle cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS/SDS).
- Follow hotel procedures for securing guest rooms, handling room keys, and protecting guest privacy.
- Properly document and process lost and found items in accordance with hotel policies.
- Communicate effectively with Guest Services, Maintenance, and other departments regarding room status, guest requests, and operational needs.
- Complete opening and closing duties, reports, and assigned documentation accurately.
- Support hotel security by reporting suspicious activities, safety concerns, or unusual incidents.
- Participate in emergency response procedures and follow all health and safety policies.
- Foster a positive team environment by working collaboratively with colleagues while demonstrating professionalism, respect, and integrity.
- Ensure compliance with all housekeeping policies, procedures, quality standards, and resort brand expectations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support hotel operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is considered an asset.
- Previous housekeeping or hotel cleaning experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong commitment to delivering exceptional guest service.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain high cleanliness standards.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Flexible availability to work days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
- Basic mathematical skills for counting inventory and supplies.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.; occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Frequently use stairs while servicing guest floors.
- Push and maneuver housekeeping carts and equipment throughout the property.
- Work indoors and occasionally outdoors in varying seasonal weather conditions.
- Ability to safely work with cleaning chemicals and disinfectants while following all safety procedures.
