We operate four popular cafes in Marin and have a wholesale production division making flatbread crackers, cookies and crisps in Petaluma with products sold nationally by fine retailers throughout the US. POSITION SUMMARY

Rustic Bakery is hiring two Lead positions on 3rd shift: a Production Lead and a Packaging Lead. Both roles are key to keeping our overnight operations running smoothly and offer the opportunity to lead a team in a fast-paced bakery environment. Regularly scheduled hours will be 9:00pm or 10:00pm to 5:30 or 6:30am, Sunday through Thursday (and Friday during busy season, the 6th day will qualify for overtime). All third shift positions earn an extra $1.00/hour in addition to the base rate.

Production Lead- manages the Production Team to meet the daily production plan and works on multiple product lines. They plan, organize, and monitor product flow based on the schedule, through the production area and baking room. Must be knowledgeable of all SSOPs and aware of Company’s CCPs, Preventive Controls and Food Safety protocols.

Packaging Lead- manages the Packaging Department to meet the daily packing schedule. Monitors storage of packing materials. Responsible for ensuring Master Sanitation schedule is adhered to. Responsible for daily completion of packing department logs, including daily verification signatures. Aware of all GMP and Food Safety protocols. Knowledge of the equipment maintenance schedule and SSOPs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Production Lead Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily production of product, including maintaining specifications and quality
  • Schedule employee work shifts, breaks, and lunches according to the production/product schedule
  • Ensure materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures
  • Understand products, allergens, and methods to ensure safe, quality food across multiple product lines
  • Ensure employees safely operate equipment and handle materials, including moving dough to and from production lines and ovens
  • Ensure all employees follow GMP for their work area
  • Ensure the Master Sanitation Schedule is followed
  • Complete all production department logs daily, including verification signatures
  • Perform additional duties as needed and occasionally assist other departments

Packaging Lead Responsibilities

  • Supervise warehouse packers and oversee the team's daily packing of finished products (wholesale and specialty Café cookies), including specification and quality, according to schedule
  • Track inventory of packing materials stored in the warehouse
  • Ensure rest breaks and meal periods are taken according to schedule
  • Supervise and train employees to safely operate material handling equipment
  • Ensure materials are staged for counting and inspection
  • Direct the movement of finished product pallets, including completing, wrapping, and staging pallet sheets for transfer to the finished goods warehouse
  • Check that materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures
  • Maintain awareness of CCPs and company preventive controls to ensure food safety
  • Ensure proper rotation of warehouse inventories
  • Complete required logs at the direction of the Department Lead
  • Perform additional duties as needed and occasionally assist other departments
Requirements:

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Communicates effectively and accurately. Fully bilingual (English & Spanish).
  • Shows good judgment, sound reasoning, and good decision-making skills.
  • Competent teaching, team building and training abilities; Strong interpersonal skills and ability to motivate people.
  • Ability to use a calculator to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Must be able to accurately record results.
  • Organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must work well in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Good punctuality and attendance
  • Ability to work Sunday through Thursdays (and Fridays during the busy season), overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 2 - 3 years of related experience working in similar industry. Additional education may be substituted for years of work experience.
