Job Description
J&H Services, Inc. is seeking a dependable and safety-focused CDL Driver to support heavy utility construction operations. The CDL Driver is responsible for transporting equipment, materials, aggregates, and supplies to and from job sites while ensuring compliance with all DOT regulations and company safety standards. This position may also assist crews with construction activities when not actively driving.
Requirements:Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Safely operate commercial vehicles, including dump trucks, water trucks, flatbeds, lowboys, and other CDL-required equipment.
• Transport construction materials, heavy equipment, tools, and supplies to project locations.
• Load, secure, transport, and unload equipment in accordance with DOT and company requirements.
• Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and daily vehicle inspections.
• Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, and delivery documentation.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
• Coordinate deliveries and schedules with supervisors, dispatchers, and project managers.
• Assist field crews with utility construction tasks as needed, including loading materials, site preparation, and cleanup.
• Monitor vehicle and equipment condition and report maintenance needs promptly.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and traffic laws.
• Maintain a clean and professional appearance of assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Valid Class A CDL required.
• Current DOT Medical Certificate required.
• Minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience preferred.
• Experience hauling heavy equipment, construction materials, and oversized loads preferred.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations, vehicle inspections, and load securement requirements.
• Ability to safely operate trailers, lowboys, and heavy hauling equipment.
• Clean driving record and ability to meet company insurance requirements.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Experience in utility construction or heavy civil construction is a plus.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to climb in and out of trucks and equipment multiple times throughout the day.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physical labor when assisting crews.
