E-Commerce & Bale in Bag Operations Assistant

(Entry-Level Production, Packaging & Order Support)

Department: Operations - Bale in Bag / Domestic Orders

Reports To: E-Commerce & Bale in Bag Operations Lead; Plant Manager / Assistant Plant Manager

Employment Status: Full-Time, non-exempt

Location: Brawley, CA

Position Summary

The E-Commerce & Bale in Bag Operations Assistant is an entry-level position that supports the E-Commerce & Bale in Bag Operations Lead with production, packaging, labeling, quality checks, inventory, and preparation of domestic orders for customers such as Amazon, Chewy, and local suppliers.

The Assistant works under direction and receives training in Bale in Bag processes, equipment safety, customer specifications, and order preparation. This position is expected to follow instructions carefully, maintain a clean and safe work area, and help the team complete accurate orders on schedule. When Bale in Bag operations are slow, the Assistant will support Dock operations and perform tasks assigned by the Dock Worker Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Production & Equipment Support
  • Assist the E-Commerce & Bale in Bag Operations Lead with daily production and order priorities.
  • Prepare bags, wrap, straps, labels, pallets, and other materials needed for production.
  • Assist with Bale in Bag production, wrapping, strapping, staging, and order preparation.
  • Learn to operate the wrapping machine and other assigned equipment safely under supervision.
  • Operate forklifts, presses, or other powered equipment only after required training and authorization.
  • Follow established procedures and the production schedule provided by the Lead or management.
  • Report equipment problems, unsafe conditions, or material shortages immediately.
    • Quality Control Support
  • Assist with visual inspection of hay, packaging, compression, and product presentation.
  • Learn Amazon, Chewy, and other customer quality specifications.
  • Separate or hold product when directed because of quality concerns.
  • Report damaged product, incorrect materials, contamination concerns, or other quality issues immediately.
  • Follow the Lead's instructions to maintain consistent Bale in Bag product quality.
    • Packaging, Labels & Barcodes
  • Prepare packaging materials according to work instructions and customer specifications.
  • Apply labels and barcodes accurately and in the correct location.
  • Verify product, quantity, packaging, and label information with the Lead before shipment.
  • Help stage completed orders for shipment and keep materials organized and available.
  • Notify the Lead when bags, labels, straps, wrap, or other supplies are running low.
    • Order & Team Communication
  • Provide accurate production and order updates to the E-Commerce & Bale in Bag Operations Lead.
  • Communicate delays, errors, damaged materials, or order concerns immediately.
  • Coordinate with warehouse, shipping, and Dock employees as directed.
  • Use email or other company systems for internal communication when assigned and trained.
  • Communicate with customers or the sales team only when specifically authorized by management.
    • Administrative, Inventory & General Support
  • Use the ADP application for timekeeping and company communication.
  • Help maintain organized production, label, packaging, and order records.
  • Assist with counting and organizing Bale in Bag packaging materials and supplies.
  • Maintain the Bale in Bag production and storage areas clean, orderly, and free of hazards.
  • Assist with loading domestic orders when needed and properly trained.
  • Support Dock operations when assigned and follow the Dock Worker Supervisor's instructions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned based on business and operational needs.
    • Qualifications & Skills
  • Entry-level position; prior Bale in Bag or e-commerce production experience is not required.
  • Willingness and ability to learn production, packaging, labeling, quality, and equipment procedures.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and ask questions when clarification is needed.
  • Basic attention to detail, organization, dependability, and teamwork skills.
  • Basic computer or mobile application skills, including email and ADP, or willingness to learn.
  • Basic English skills to understand labels, order information, safety instructions, and workplace communication.
  • Ability to work safely in a production environment and follow all company safety rules.
  • Availability to work flexible hours as operational needs require.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
    • Training & Development
  • Receive on-the-job training from the E-Commerce & Bale in Bag Operations Lead and management.
  • Complete required safety and equipment training before independent equipment operation.
  • Develop knowledge of Bale in Bag production, customer specifications, quality standards, packaging materials, labels, and barcodes.
  • Demonstrate increasing accuracy, independence, and responsibility as training progresses.
    • Performance Expectations
  • Follow the Lead's instructions and support completion of domestic orders on time.
  • Prepare packaging and labels accurately with a low error rate.
  • Meet quality and safety standards for all assigned work.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient work area.
  • Communicate problems, delays, and supply needs promptly.
  • Use equipment only as trained and authorized.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance, teamwork, and willingness to learn.
  • Support Dock Operations and other operational needs when required.
